Tube amp Questions
Check out Audio By Van Alstine, one of their Fet Valve Hybrid Amplifiers. My speakers' rated sensitivity are similar to yours and I had an earlier edition Fet Valve and liked it very much. A little tube flavor with lots of power. Very well built, ...
Recently re-discovered or newly discovered music in your current "heavy rotation"

Please help ...integrated amp under $1200
Decide on the speakers first and then find an amp to properly drive them.Agree! If you do this you will be reducing your risk of wasting lots of money. Decide what type of speakers float your boat first (sealed box, ported box, panel, open baffle,...
Your last concert was to see who and when?
This past weekend The Peter Karp Band. Bluesy/rocky/twangy music from a talented trio at a newish venue in Woodstock, GA, Madlife Stage & Studios. I knew and liked Peter from the two releases he did with Sue Foley. Great music and venue!
My Daughter changed my Subwoofer settings!
Which is why, once I was finally set on optimal adjustments, I took a picture of each sub's knobs so in the future, if for some reason they get knocked about, I could at least get somewhat close to what they were set.
Your first component that was "special"
Back in 2005, so not until I was 50 years old, an Opera Audio a120 integrated hybrid amplifier (90W, 6H30 tube) was the first piece of audiophile kit I’d ever acquired. It was my Pandora’s box intro to the amazing world of hi-end audio that, until...
Must speakers have certain volume to sound convincing ?
My EgglestonWorks Fontaines do need a kick in the pants to sound good. For me, not that the room is inadequately pressurized but seems more like the drivers, which are quite robustly built, need some power to move optimally. Not so with my desktop...
Let's see or discuss your desktop speakers!
Adam F7 Active Monitor speakers for me - so no need for amplifier. Plugged directly into my laptop's headphone out. Terrific sound! Their ART (Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeter is awesome sounding. And they're front ported, which is great fo...
Preamps-Tube
I’m using a Mapletree Audio Design line stage. 2 chassis with tube rectification. I’ve stopped looking for better. +1 ... Me too! Agree. And one of the best features is being able to run 6SN7 or 12SN7 tubes, depending on your taste and budget.
List of musicians changed career with better success...
Robert Gordon did fair as a punk rocker, but his career improved once he embraced Rockabilly. +1I saw him perform with my one of my fav rockabilly bands back in the day in Detroit, the Twistin' Tarantulas. One of the best live shows I'd ever see...
Tell Us about an Album That Took a Long Time to Grow on You
Miles Davis’, "Bitches Brew". It took me almost 40 years before I finally enjoyed this album. (Not just this one, but his subsequent releases as well.) It was not as if I listened to it every week for decades, but would periodically give it a spin...

What is your go-to online place to buy physical medium of music? And why?
Oops, forgot to mention why I buy where I do - cheapest price and availability.
What is your go-to online place to buy physical medium of music? And why?
Amazon for most of my CDs. Also will buy used from Discogs.com for OOP CDs. Also belong to swapacd.com - super cheap swapping site. And sometimes I have no choice but to go directly to the producer or artist site.
