The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
And anybody would be nuts to buy a copy from "better-records.com" for $300!
The Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
Get an early British or German pressing! Avoid any of today's pressings sourced from digital files. Ugh!

Avoid all Japanese pressings! They are mastered with tipped-up high frequencies. The typical Asian listener calls this "detail"! This goes along with their love of horn speakers!
The Forest for the Trees
Right on baclagg! Too many here are caught up in the neurotic pursuit of "perfection" and miss the enjoyment of music's flow. They worry too much! That's no way to live!
Recommendation on a basic turntable setup
@noromance : Good recommendation! I too bought a PLX1000 when I was curious and wanted to add a new TT to my vintage collection (a dozen +) of belt, idler, dd, linear-tracking TTs. The PLX1000 represents excellent value - even though it comes from...
Recommendation on a basic turntable setup
@bdp24 : Stop trying to scare him off! Regarding LPs: there are a million used available online - no need to go outside shopping. Prices from $1 and up! New reissues today are IMO too expensive (and sourced mainly from digital files). I hardly eve...
So, my NAS Hyperspace w. MP500 gets beaten by Iphone and TV
Here's what I don't like about streaming: no way to verify the provenance of the recording! No way to tell how close it is to the original master! You are at the mercy of the online provider! It's anybody's guess as to exactly what generation you ...

And phono stages (both internal and external) vary widely in sound quality due to  different equalization circuits, power supplies ...

The typical mm cartridge has a coil inductance measured in the hundreds of millihenries. Mc cartridges have 1/10 that or less! Plus much lower internal resistance.

There ain't no magic in using a moving magnet cartridge! They all suffer from excessive inductance (coils) and consequently slowed down transients!
Cayin A100T (EL34 Version) Tube Rolling
The 12AX7 is a front-end tube! The 12AU7's are most-likely used one-per-channel as a long-tail phase splitter.
High Output Preamp for First Watt SIT-3?
You have a poorly-matched speaker/amp combination. Either sell the .7's and get a higher sensitivity speaker like, say, Altec Valencia's. Or sell the SIT-3 and buy a high-power amp like a Crown XLS1002 (400 wpc/4ohms). The Mytech is fine connected...
High Output Preamp for First Watt SIT-3?
You certainly need more power (watts) to drive the .7's to play louder! The SIT-3 is what - 15 watts? The .7's need at least 10x that (150 watts) to achieve reasonable SPL's. Adding a different preamp ain't going to change the equation!
Any experience with these turntables?
The AR is the best sounding TT here! Even with its clunky stock arm! I have one in my collection - nicely restored and modded by VinylNirvana. The stock arm tube was replaced with a Technics, removable headshell and new wiring. Dynamat damping app...
What can I expect to hear from a decent analog FM Tuner?
I have six vintage FM tuners. Including two tube units (Fisher and Scott), plus a McIntosh MR77 and a Marantz Model 23.
