Strange turntable/speaker issue
A phono stage with a low frequency filter (below 20hz) is a safe recommendation! There is nothing of musical worth down there! The RIAA equalization keeps boosting the bass frequencies needlessly! That would account for the acoustic coupler pumpin...

Audio Critic 10 lies>>>>>>>>>>
Thank you 70242241e18c for your posting back in 2001 of "The Ten Biggest Lies In Audio"! Peter Aczel was spot on! Sadly most members on this site have never read this or have chosen to ignore it! And so we have the sorry state of affairs today. Fl...
When the Audio Critic was subjective.
The ML2’s were priced at $3600 a pair in 1976. Hardly qualifies as "high end" compared to the sky-high prices for a lot of today’s gear (Dagostino, Soulution, Dartzeel, MBL ...).
When the Audio Critic was subjective.
That was the Levinson ML2 mono 25 watt amp. And Aczel was correct! A classic design and still one of the best sounding amps! Designed by Tom Colangelo (who also designed the ML1 preamp).

stanton str 8 80 ?
A pivoted tonearm with NO offset will have maximum distortion at both ends of its arc. I.E.: at the beginning and end of an LP! Those are the two spots were the stylus has the least tangency to the record grooves! A zero-offset arm only has tangen...

Soliciting Member Perspectives: Levinson vs Bryston vs Audio Research
I own an Audio Research SP6 and D75 tube pre/power amp. Along with a Bryston .5 pre and 3B power amp. All excellent products, yet as different as apples and oranges!
Tonearms with no anti-skate adjustment
Anti-skate - not important! I can never tell when the mechanism is engaged or not!
Speaker Cables for Athena AS-B1
14 guage zipcord from Home Depot will work just as well as any of the above!
Linn Sonedeck XII 33 to 45 RPM solution
A two-step pulley as found on the System deck would work fine on the Sondek. My two Aristons use this. There is some inconvenience, as the platter must be removed, belt repositioned and platter put back. So an external speed control does allow for...
