Springs under turntable
As for subwoofers the trick is to give the driver a perfectly solid enclosure with an infinite mass. Not so easy. Put your hand on your subwoofer enclosure while playing something bass heavy. I have a pair of dual voice coil drivers firing opposed...

@mijostyn -  If you like old sports cars you will love Vinyl. If you only drive Audi's stick with digital. I want to buy an S5. For real. Isolating a TT with a wood peer and beam construction would be a daunting task for me. Most of my experienc...
Sub Question. One higher quality sub or two lesser quality? (Rythmik vs HSU)
@onhwy61 - Have built OB subs? HAve you used the GR Research servo amp and drivers in a project?@mijostyn - you and I have mixed interactions, I probably misunderstood the very first question you asked me and the rest was, well...awkward.I do have...

Thank you for the kind words. I wasn't even being kind really, just calling it as I saw it. I thought just from the photos you'd put in some decent effort, now after reading just about the mods on just the turntables, there's an unseen iceberg o...

+1 panzrwagnRegarding using Blu-tac for mounting stand mounts. That was my former go to for putting stand mount speakers on stands, brilliant stuff and helps stop ringing.
Sub Question. One higher quality sub or two lesser quality? (Rythmik vs HSU)
Thanks ozzy62, lovin' this thread.I am considering building using Rythmik sub module and a pair of 12' in a folded dipole design. My only response so far was that the measurement device may not be the most accurate compared to an accelerometer ....

So much good information, what a great thread. I especially appreciate input from all those with experiences good and bad.lewm, yeah you've already explained that yours are immune from the effects of vibration. Your objections are noted and I hear...

@frogman When you say a Target shelf, do you mean the brand?I have found that for the springs to correctly isolate the loaded mass, that substrate needs to be unyielding, well as much as possible. In a situation where the structure under the spring...

@in_shore I recently purchased the Puritan PSM 156 myself, I'd like to know the difference if any the grounding (are you using the box?) does for the outcome of your system?@teajay  Sorry about my query on the PSM 156.I will be in the market for a...
the sound of massed violins in classical orchestral recordings
I have a good friend who is an accomplished violinist, she claimed to me more than once, that she'd never heard a playback device that could come close to violin. That could mimic it close enough to fool her into believing it was the real thing. I...
Has anyone heard or built an Axel Ridtahler (Ridtahler dipole) sub woofer?
@oldhvymec - are you saying that the measurements the amp module are fed coming back from the subs are inaccurate?I do know what overshoot is, and there's no predictive modelling for this scenario that I am aware of, and can't even dream of how it...

@asvjerry - what do you feed an 18 foot tall pigeon?Whatever the heck it wants!Whoah, toasted sandwiches on fans? A great new scent for the house? Is it patent-able?

@lewm - yes.RixTheTrick 09-05-2020 11:29amZero Stiffness is an ideal.I have mentioned Minus K in Agon before, and I am on their email list. They are very expensive. Their upright flexible pillars are an excellent means of controlling horizontal pla...

I am just amazed that you found a can of food that is sourcing an alternating current measured as Hz,(oscillations per second) without a source and it’s measured through a single conductor! With no potential. Is that what you’re claiming? If you us...

I have a relatively modest pair of AKG K701 open baffle headphones. I can also hear what’s happening outside of the headphones as though I don’t have anything on my ears. These AKG K701s are an older model now, I found a new set on Ebay for $205 + ...
