Thiel 2.4 VS 3.6 My 3.6 speakers went very well with a Plinius SA250.
Thiel 2.4 VS 3.6 I prefer the 2.4 over the 3.6, but there is no doubt that in an appropriate room the 3.6 has weight and scale that the 2.4 cannot match. The 3.6 is also certainly harder to partner and will suit fewer rooms. The key issue for me with the 3.6 is it...
help thiel 2.4 placement??? The thiel manuals are usually helpful and can be downloaded from www.thielaudio.com. The screamingly obvious response to your post is that 6 feet apart is quite wrong. I have owned several Thiels and all operate best at about nine feet apart, and ...
Sistrum or Neuance or...? To get back to the original question. I personally prefer the Neuance to the Sistrum. However, there is no perfect solution to vibration isolation/tuning, just as there is no perfect cable for all systems. For example, the Neuance could sound too ...
Anyone heard of Soundstring cable? I have a balanced set of Soundstrings. I really like them. They sound similar to the several ICs that use very thin conductors, eg. Luminous Synchestra, Stealth PGS, but without the warm glow and softness that the likes of the PGS have. On some ss...
Free Tweak...does it work for you?? Ridgestreetaudio has it right - the rest of you guys are just having fun. I believe it was Martin Colloms who once pointed out that all these high end power cords were merely introducing inductance through their geometry to roll-off high frequency...
I Just Don't Get Video I have a Sanyo plv-z1 projector - cheap and cheerful, but beats any Plasma I have seen hands down at a fraction of the price. Getting all carried away I tried a number of processors and either saw no meaningful improvement or a degraded picture. O...
Keb' Mo' -- tell me more I would be careful - I only like that first one, and find the rest to be too MOR in style. I don't mean to dis the opinions here, just to point out that the first one has more 'edge' than his others, and for me that makes a difference.
Consonance cd-120 vs. Consonance 2.2 Just an aside on this - I was listening to a system that had the Consonance 2.2 and a Perreaux Radiance in it and I was damn sure it sounded like the phase was inverted. Changing the polarity at the speaker fixed the problem, so either the Consona...
Totem Forest or Thiel CS2.3 ? The Mani 2 would be ideal in your room in my opinion. I have had a pair in a similar room and it worked very well.
Totem Forest or Thiel CS2.3 ? I would buy the Totem. You might prefer the Thiel if you prefer the sheer scale and weight and attack that they will have over the Totem. First, I never managed to enjoy the 2.3, and even preferred listening to music through the 1.5. Something abo...
Source or Amp in audio link? I could go with that. Perhaps 700 for CD might be a challenge.
Step-up from Plinius SA-102? The problem I had with the sa102 was not a lack of power, but sounds like what Inpieces was complaining of. Essentially the sa102 can sound a little lifeless and lacking drive in some (repeat some) systems, despite its considerable power reserves.
Source or Amp in audio link? I think this question cannot be answered in aby theoretical sense or doctrinaire manner. If I look at the systems I have put together recently, the amp has always cost more. Yet the piece that usually had to be most carefully selected for long ter...
Step-up from Plinius SA-102? The SA102 tends to lack bite, and it sounds like that might be why you are hankering for a change. I was in a similar position a few months ago except I was reducing the sheer size of my second system (keeping my lovely wife happy) and replaced th... |
