Mcintosh, Krell or Mark Lenvison Power amps
Old Krell Class A power amps were made for Apogee speakers.
An old phrase which, I believe, may be timely...
That doesn't make the warning any less relevant, ebm.
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?
Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending is indeed beautiful.  Also try his Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis--the Barbirolli version is my favorite.  And Grainger's Irish tune from County Derry (Danny Boy), in any form but especially orchestral, can a...
Issue with ProAc D40 speaker - any suggestions to resolve the issue
Not likely, but is it possible that the tweeter was rewired incorrectly?
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?
Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and O Magnum Mysterium.
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?
The final movement of the Copland Third Symphony.
What sends shivers down your spine when you play it on your system?
I think twoleftears meant Mahler 5, which I agree is absolutely beautiful.  Staying with Mahler, I agree with Mapman on Mahler 2, the final portion of the last movement always gives me the shivers.  As does the third movement of the Shostakovich 5...
Concert halls from around the world. What have been your favorites.
palasr--I agree with you on watching an opera in Italy.  I went to a performance by a touring troupe in Todi, and it was almost like being at a baseball game here in the US.
Audio Research preamps EXCESSIVE OPERATING COSTS
Clearly the OP has no love for ARC.  My suggestion is buy a solid-state preamp and be done with it--there have been some good suggestions made above.  If you really want the ARC, get a cheap solid state integrated amp/HT processor for your home th...
Classic records sleeves.
I have the Classic Records Dorati Firebird (both 33-1/3 and 45 rpm versions).  The sleeve has no writing on it, and there is no indication on the jacket that it is the reissue. However, there are two things that may help you identify it:1.  The in...
Sue Kraft
Please accept my condolences as well.   Atmasphere's post brings up an important point,  When Valerie Kurlychek (aka Anna Logg) passed away, I helped the family with selling her gear, and the first thing I did was check with the manufacturers of t...
Belles original 150 amplifier. Any good?
Agree with joey54, check with John Rutan, he knows his stuff.  They sold a lot of Belles amps.
Kef reference 1/2 demo
Woodbridge Stereo carries the line, as does Audio Doctor in Jersey City, I believe.  Not sure if they have the models you're looking for on display.
How is
Assuming that when you say you have two prongs in your preamp you mean left and right channel outputs, you just use one amp as your left channel and one as your right channel, and run the interconnects from the preamp accordingly.
Best Tube amp match for Dunlavy SC 4A speakers?
I always liked tubes on the Dunlavy's.  My dealer used both VTL and, later, VAC amps on them to good effect--had he carried ARC then I expect he would have used them as well.  I would think a VAC higher powered amp (Phi 200 or 300, for example) wo...
