Dan D 'Agostino, Mark Levinson, Jim Thiel, One example where the founder's leaving (in this case, passing away) did not result in a company "going to the dogs" was Snell, where Kevin Voecks produced some excellent designs following the death of Peter Snell.
Absolute Mystery Nah, Zd, you almost always know how they're going to end! :^)
critics dynaudio speakers Dynaudio is as good as you think. And what you think is all that matters. Just sit back and enjoy the music, you've got a terrific system.
Please help me decide: And of mystery. What do you have now? What are your priorities in a sound system? What kind of room do you have?
VAC 160iSE integrated with NOLA speakers I came very close to getting the 160i to use with my Nola Micro References, but fell in love with the Shindo sound so got a Monbrisson preamp and a Phi 200 amp. Got the amp and speakers from Mike Oltz (Xtreme Fidelity); I will second him as a fine...
Audio Research M100 Thumping If you reverse the channels, does the problem follow the channel or the amp?
Meitner/EMM Labs Firmware Upgrade = Sonic Bliss Too bad, I have one as well. Still sounds damn good to me, though, so I think we can take some solace in that.
Can we talk? The only one I bought and regretted was not a component, but an interconnect, the Nordost Valhalla. I guess I just cannot appreciate the Nordost sound, always a shade too bright to my ears. Plus the Valhalla, while not a bad cable by any means, ju...
What to do? I downsized to a similar sized room, and there was no way my four-piece full-range system could fit in the room. I'm very happy with Nola Micro Grands now, they work very well in my 15x12 room. I agree with Onhwy61 and Xti16, though, try the vario...
What does "compression" like? Agree with the above posts. A good example of what compression sounds like would be if you listen to a classical FM station on your tuner for a big orchestral piece like a Mahler symphony. At the climaxes where the whole orchestra is playing full ...
Audiophile Active Speakers? I hadn't thought about the question as "audiophile", but Kiddman's point is good, and can also be applied to the Adam speakers, which are also used in studio applications. I have heard both the ATCs (the 40s, I believe) and the earlier version of ...
Audiophile Active Speakers? I would recommend that you listen to both the ATC and Adam speakers. Both excel at dynamics, and I love the higher end Adams' Heil midrange and tweeter units. May be tough to get them for $7K, though.
More Tubes = Better Sound Hi Audiolabyrinth. I was referring to amps from the same vintage, with the same basic circuitry. For example, the Jadis JA30 vs. the JA80 vs. the JA500, or the original Krell KSA50 vs the KSA 100, and the KSA 80 vs. the KSA 200. Subjective observa...
emmlabs cdsa-se vs esoteric 05 No brightness in my system with the XDS1, though I have a tubed preamp and amplifier.
emmlabs cdsa-se vs esoteric 05 If you like the emm labs sound, you might want to consider their XDS1 as well as the other two you mention, which are both excellent. It has a superior transport in it compared to the CDSA, and it sounds a lot better overall to me than the CDSAs t... |
