Question on KEF speakers i liked their reference series and currently use a pair of reference 2's in my home theater. you can find a pair of kef reference 1's for around the price you are looking at that (IMO) would sound better that the small 'Q' series speakers.
Best all around box speaker between 15K and 25K i also agree with tumbler's reply. I just purchased a pair of totem mani-2's. my reply above was for a very large room. any smaller, i would go with a pair or Totem speakers and invest the $$$$ you would save. You will not be disappointed.
Transparent Link 200 for Totem speakers i used to own transparent musicwave plus speaker cables to my totem model 1's and I moved to all bogdan silver cables and ic's. the transparent cables were lifeless compared to other cables I listened to. if you move up the transparent chain, they...
Totem Beaks i use 2 per speaker on the totem mani-2's and the totem model 1's. on left speaker, 1 on the front left side, the other on the back right side. on right speaker, 1 on the front right side, the other on the back left side. i have heard of other peo...
any drummers in the house i used to be a drummer (still jam a little). started in 1961 as the drummer boy for my grade school play. grew up playing beatles and rolling stones until the hard rock days then played jimi hendrix, deep purple, black sabbath stuff. then got into...
Best all around box speaker between 15K and 25K imo, i thought the joseph pearl's sounded the best at he2003 and they cost 20k. (VOTED best of show the last 2 years if that means anything). the 5a's sounded pretty good also, but i thought the joseph, wilson, and a few other sound better. The So...
Speakers: What's MOST important to you?... tight bass, full midrange, and smooth highs. that is why i look at speakers with smaller (but could have multiple of them) woofers (10" or less in size) because they tend to have a tighter lower octave and still produce enough bass for me. smooth ...
Vanderteen 5A's versus Wilson WattPuppy 7's they were dedicated rooms. the room with the wp 7's was a bigger room. i talked with a few people i knew that attended he2003 and they were impressed with the 5a's at he2003, so the room couldn't be all that bad. btw, i also liked the wp sofia spe...
Vanderteen 5A's versus Wilson WattPuppy 7's i heard both of them at he2003 this year. not the best place to audition systems but you can get a good idea how they sound. i also have a local dealer with the 5a's and listened to them there as well. both are very good speakers. price no object,...
What is your price range for used vinyl? i purchase on average 2 or 3 used albums per week for a cost of $2.50 to $4.00 per album. New albums are around $10 on up. we have quite a few music stores that sell used cd's and albums. for example, some of the music stores have thousands of use...
Totem Arro Placement i have them 6" out from each corner in my den. slight toe in. no sub needed here. mostly listen to jazz, blues, and new age while working/playing on the computer.
The ideal listening room if i was going to build the ideal listening room, I would go listen to the experts on how they design rooms or hire an expert to design the room for you. at he2003 this year in san francisco, they had a panel of speakers talking about designing an...
Best Speaker for audiophile-grade small room rig i would second muzikat's opinion: Joseph and totem. i have both the totem model 1's and the totem arros. very nice sounding speakers. i think these speakers would match well with your other components.
Recommendations on mid-fi speakers i agree with the 2 responses above. I use a pair of arro's in my den and they are amazing small speakers. actually, these speakers sound better than many other vendors more expensive speakers.
Speaker suggestions? i agree with dave_b. i have a pair of totem model 1's in my listening room and have a pair of the totem arro's in my den. the arro's are designed to place near a wall (mine are 6" from the back wall and 6" from the side wall). the arro's (along wi... |
