My DAC no longer working using digital inputs
Elevick:Thank you. I followed your excellent suggestion by unplugging the USB from the MAC to the DAC. I then plugged the co-axial cable from the CDP to the DAC and bingo, John Coltrane was in the room, making me a very happy man.I have not yet pl...
Preamp w/ Single Line Input. But I have DAC and CDP
Thank you, Mesch.Today I did encounter a problem. When I plugged a coaxial IC into the CDP and then into either of the two digital inputs on the DAC, the DAC did not "see" nor play the CD. The USB connection is still fine and I can listen to Inter...
Do you enjoy the sound at your local Theater Plex?
Went to see a flick Xmas eve. TOO LOUD! Otherwise not bad. Sort of a wall of sound which was at least clear and detailed.
How do you judge your system's neutrality?
I don't. I have no interest in attempting the impossible. Achieving the possible can be tough enough. As RJA so aptly put it, "neutral is completely hypothetical."
Preamp w/ Single Line Input. But I have DAC and CDP
Well, since I don't have a coaxial audio cable (yet) after researching further, I tried a conventional IC from the CDP coaxial output to the DAC coaxial input, and bingo, my problem is solved. SUCCESS!I left the DAC connected to the preamp line in...
Preamp w/ Single Line Input. But I have DAC and CDP
Thank you all for your responses. My CDP is a Shanling CD-T1000 SE which has a coaxial output. The Cambridge Audio DAC has S/P DIF Coaxial input and outputs. So far the only source I've fed into the DAC is Internet radio using a Macbook and Amarra...
Cable Costs Relative to System
Tbg:I'm puzzled why you would get into economic systems within the context of this thread but since you went there, I would venture a guess that if Karl Marx, et al, had been audiophiles, astronomically (silly) priced wires would not have been in ...
Grover Huffman GH RCA ZX+ cables vs...
Grover Cables. I love 'em. I've run his IC's and speaker cable for years after trying this, that, and the other thing. Huffman cables enable me to turn my all tube system on and simply listen to music and never think about wires. With his generous ...
Cable Costs Relative to System
While I agree that cables can and do make a difference, I am increasingly amused by the cost of many high end cables relative to the cost of all the other stuff that goes into this crazy hobby, and relative to the cost of pretty much everything el...
A new home for Chapman T77SE's
Typo Alert: Breadth, not "breath." And maybe scope would have sufficed. :)
A new home for Chapman T77SE's
For many years my wife and I have gotten enormous musical enjoyment from our Chapman T7s. These were upgraded about 5 years ago, and the "wow" factor was exponential. Stuart is passionately dedicated to his craft and truly loves what he does. His ...
Graphene, Rohacell, Permali - the future of audio
I've been using the same vintage tube electronics for many year- pre-amp with outboard power supply, and two mono amps which employ 4 KT-88's each. All pieces have been significantly upgraded by the original designer, and sound terrific. They also...
Who do you trust?
I trust my wife, who is blessed with fabulous hearing. Like Mapman, I also trust my dog who of course has even better ears than my wife. I also trust myself.I do not trust any of the "luminaries" no matter what publication. There are entirely too ...
Great, Physically Unobtrusive High-end Speakers?
You guys are great! Thanks very much for all the input. So many excellent choices!I should have a pair of "mystery" speakers to demo by the end of the week and will report back. If I love 'em, they'll likely be keepers and I'll let you know what t...
You know you're an audiophile if--
You spend $2999.00 for a pair of speakers and tell your wife they cost well under $3000.00, and that price even included shipping. Plus, you'll sell the old speakers for close to what the new ones cost, so the difference is really only a few dollars.
