Thiel Owners
I remember my first encounters with the Thiel 3.6 at a local high end store, in the 90's, where I got to play a bunch of my CDs.I had the distinct impression of "that's exactly what it sounded like" when the music was recorded, both in terms of th...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
Ok andy2, lesson finally learned.  I attempted good faith interaction, but I won't attempt any more to draw serious replies from you.  Enjoy the show.
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
cleeds,This isn’t a scientific group.I understand, but please make sure are not closing ranks too tightly; I and others who share my skepticism about some areas of high end audio are part of this group (insofar as you mean members of the audiogon ...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
@andy2Like I said, manufacturers have a lot of cables lying around so they can do A - B between new and old cables so there is no need to recall something many days ago.And that is exactly why it is suspicious that they do not (that I'm aware of) ...
Thiel Owners
Incredible, GeoffKait trolling every forum thread, even the Thiel owners thread, for mention of his name.  It's a full time job apparently!Anyway, enough of that, back to Thiel...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
@andy2,Your analogy to a Ferrari and a Toyota is begging the question. (There are obviously gross physical differences in design and well-attested technical reasons why a Ferrari can outperform a Toyota in various ways - and since we are talking a...
Thiel Owners
Oh yeah, I've visited it before! The ongoing mystery has always been if the site is one big troll (not implausible given that seems to be Kait's modus operandi), vs anything serious.  I think the site is mostly a troll, like many of Kait's comments...
Thiel Owners
brayeagle, I hear you on the 2.7s.  I feel very sure I'm never selling mine (or not for a long time). Why do you suggest I google Geoff Kait?  I'm pretty familiar with our ubiquitous, obstreperous forum member :)
Thiel Owners
Oh man, I was just reading an old review of the Thiel 3.7s, naturally a rave, and had this tinge of regret creeping over me.  I had those speakers!  They were incredible! But then I remember why I had to sell them.  Yes, I HAD to sell them! (Must k...
When people upgrade from Thiel
As I've detailed in other threads, I've had to look for alternatives to my Thiel 3.7 speakers.   It was very problematic.  Almost nothing sounded as good, and I could not find anything I truly found an "upgrade" in many areas (one or two maybe, bu...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
I believe Blue Jeans cables use Belden. Correct. I bought a set of QED for not a lot more money than Blue Jeans cable but easily better considerably. So you had Belden cables and thought QED sounded better? It sure would be interesting to see if tho...
How about a list of speakers that are time and phase coherent? Thiels and what else?
kenjit,It’s not like you are bringing up a problem that designers of time/phase coherent speakers have never considered. Obviously, any good speaker designer going for time/phase coherence is going to design with those problems in mind. This is wh...
Do speaker cables need a burn in period?
@andy2,Cables are definitely worth the asking coins. Really? Is that an across the board statement? Are ethernet cables costing $10,000 (Audioquest) "worth the asking coins?" If so, why?Is the Siltech Emperor Crown cables at $40,000 "worth the coi...
How about a list of speakers that are time and phase coherent? Thiels and what else?
Some people may be fooled into thinking something like the Wilson Speakers would be mentioned in a list like this because they make a big deal of time-coherence with their stepped baffles or sloped design. But they aren’t (as I understand) time/ph...
How about a list of speakers that are time and phase coherent? Thiels and what else?
roberjerman,Are you sure about the 57s being time/phase coherent?I thought it wasn’t until the 63s that they became time/phase coherent, with the driver made in to delayed concentric rings.
