$10k Speaker Cables?????????????? There is something fairly awe-inspiring about the sheer ballsiness in high end cable prices. It's almost like watching manufacturers dare themselves (and the public) to keep going one better. "Ok, unbelievable move there...and someone bought it!...
$10k Speaker Cables?????????????? Yep, the high end cable racket. Always something to behold, and one of the more depressing aspects of the hobby. But once manufacturers found out how much people would actually pay for fancy cables...the sky has not been a limit. And everyone a...
Do people really just not get it that their items are not selling... I like to peruse the items on sale on Audiogon but...wow...is it my imagination or has the number of items being sold here decreased significantly? It seems fewer items turn up than ever before when I search for certain brands.
If you could just pick one instrument that you think sounds best on your speakers I'm sure we all want to say "everything." But restricting the answer asked by the OP, I'd say: Oboes/Bassoons.I'm a soundtrack fan, and love Bernard Herrmann fan, especially the fantasy films - Sinbad, Jason and the Argonauts, etc - and his scor...

Best building material for vibration free shelving Mike,It turned out I found no need to actually bond the steel sheet to the base. It seemed simply placing it between the maple block and the MDF - no glue or damping to bond - worked fine. Whatever type of wood I sat on to the steel sheet, the ...

Am I the only one wiht speaker cozys ? erik,I'm with you on this. I'm sort of amazed so few people think of the idea of covering their speakers.I really like a nice room decor and hate to ruin things with a pair of either ugly speakers, or even with just the wrong speaker finish. (I ...
Am I the only one wiht speaker cozys ? My home theatre speakers (and I occasionally use my L/Rs for music listening) are all covered in black velvet. (Except the front of course). In this case it is to eliminate any light reflection from the speakers back to my projection screen, and al...
Vinyl playback is still a secret What an interesting thread to visit. Back when vinyl was essentially dead, yet just when the very beginnings of the vinyl revival is being hinted at.I'm very happy it came back. I hadn't had so much fun from my system in years, since I got a goo...
Best building material for vibration free shelving @skyscraper,I was in a similar position not long ago when I bought my heavy new Transrotor turntable and had to modify my existing flimsy rack to accommodate it and create an isolation base.Reading the many threads and forums, and soliciting info ...
Devore Nines vs. 0/93's Hi dgarger,In case it helps: You will find a lot of my own reports and descriptions listening to the Devore speakers (especially the 0/93s that I was considering) in this thread:https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/contemplating-devore-speakers-...
New power cord needed for speaker with powered subwoofer? rvpiano,I have a vivid imagination, but when comes to music and things aural, I have a pretty good ear. Then you are well placed to do a blind test. Of course no one is forcing you to and I don't mean to at all. What I'm saying is that you are as...
New power cord needed for speaker with powered subwoofer? jbrrp1,I’m an engineer, and I used to believe on principle that power cords could not make a difference (assuming adequate current capability). But actual listening trials converted me from a skeptic on "theory" into a believer in practice. Sighte...
Thiel Owners When I was designing my new home theater room in 2009, a pal gave me some Thiel Power Points to try out. They were very impressive, such clever engineering, and they worked as advertised.Ultimately I preferred a bigger richer, relaxed sound so ... |
