Hi Sean, I appreciate your comments and encouragement. In my opinion, you are one of the most well-liked, respected, and valuable contributors to this forum, and it would be an honor to have you as one of my subscribers. And no, I have no afiliati...
Feedback/Ideas for New Magazine?
Steelhead, as a veteran audiophile of 30+ years, it's been my experience that bonefide improvements are much more incremental/subtle than the magazines portray. I can assemble a system with 30 year old classic gear that will not be too far off fro...

Marco, you had me ROFL! Thank you for your support and words of encouragement.Bigkidz I appreciate your kind wishes. I have some clever ideas for getting review gear going right down to paying for it myself if I have to. You say I won't make a liv...
Feedback/Ideas for New Magazine?
Hey Chris,No offense taken (at least by me) and thanks for your viewpoint. I think people should listen to whatever kind of music they like whether it be metal, rap (well, maybe not rap :) pop, classical, jazz or blues, etc.Personally, I would nev...

Arthur,Thank you for your opinion and for your thoughtful comments. In order to be successful I think you have to offer your visitors something(s) unique of value, that they can't find anywhere else. I've been reading some books on web marketing an...
Feedback/Ideas for New Magazine?
I am leaning toward featuring more $500 to $2000 products as opposed to extremely high-or low-price gear.Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated, so feel free to tell me exactly what you’d want to see in such a publication as well as whet...
Where does a sellers responsibility stop?

Gilmore Audio planars revealed
Looks like a modern version of the Carver Amazing speakers to me. But the Carvers were very inefficient and needed a lot of power to play loud. Genesis used the Carver ribbons in some of its larger models. From what I hear, the Carver ribbons had ...
Audio Physic Virgo II vs Tempo III
I also think that AP "nailed it" with the Virgo II, but I haven't heard the Tempo III, although some of the series III AP speakers tend to have a brighter, thinner sound than the earlier Virgos (including the Virgo III). I'm using the Virgo II aft...
School of Rock - Name that tune
He was playing a lot of stuff, from Led Zeppelin to AC/DC to who knows what. I really like that movie and can't wait till it comes out on DVD. The soundtrack CD may be available now. The interesting thing that I read in Entertainment magazine was ...
Difference BTW Hafler DH-200 and DH-220?
Actually I did not like the sound of the 200 in my system, even though it got good reviews (probably 3 decades ago). The 220 is a smoother, better sounding amp, for sure.
Difference BTW Hafler DH-200 and DH-220?
I used to own both those amps -- the 200 is the predecessor of the 220. The 200 has sharp fins, and the 220 has rounded heat sink fins and sounds 8.14 percent better than the 200 (IMHO).
Any insights on MBL 101 D Loudspeakers
In addition to what Duke said, they also tend to give more body to images, more of a 3-D effect, as compared to the paper-thin variety that many audiophile speakers present. To me, that's a nice quality. As Duke also intimated they are not very se...
Electrostat question
If the cable type is the same I doubt that you'd hear a difference unless the lengths were radically different. It's not that critical because ESL's draw very little current. Ideally, they should be the same, but in the real world there are more i...
Stacking components?
That rack looks really shakey. I wouldn't trust my components sitting on something like that. I think almost any other rack would be better than that one, even the cheapo MDF things you can find at Walmart. And it's never a good idea to stack compo...
