Strange Grounding Problem?
Hi Jea48,That's interesting, but actually, I did reverse the plug polarity, but there was no change in the noise.Maybe reversing the plug and then grounding the chassis to the preamp would work, but it seems like a long shot.I'm still waiting for ...
Strange Grounding Problem?
Will and Wrp,Thanks for your replies. I've been corresponding a bit with Jason and Casey at NuForce about this. I believe that for whatever reason, the noise is traveling back upstream from the NuForce amps.I'm going to give those guys another cal...
Nuforce
Mdconnelly,Good question. When I heard my specific Reference 8B amps on the 10T's it was at a friend's home who is a member of the Phoenix A/V club. He has a wonderful setup and a fantastic, custom-built room that is almost perfect for audio, judg...
Nuforce
I have recently received my Reference 9s back from a couple of final mods from NuForce. My amps are the version 9.02 and have extended bass, extended bandwidth, and the gold/copper WBT NextGen RCA inputs. Before this last mod, I also discovered th...
What Shakespeare said about vinyl and digital.
Jim,Sure, you're welcome to pass my poem along to friends. Thank you for the compliment.Frank :)
Help Requested - New Room Setup
Hi,That's a really nice system and room you have there. I wish I could afford to build a custom room for my system, but I try to make do with what I have (which is actually quite nice, in the grand scheme of things). There are two approaches you ca...
What Shakespeare said about vinyl and digital.
Jim,It seems Shakespeare was way ahead of his time. In 1996, I wrote a poem with a similar slant, which I'll paste below.I think the main drawback to vinyl, these days, is that new releases by prominent artists are not usually released on vinyl. A...
Are you open minded about loudspeaker designs?
Matrix, those Zu speakers look interesting, but they are not a crossoverless design. The super tweeter appears to cross at 12kHz at 6dB/octave, and there is undoubtedly a crossover to roll the rear subs off above 40Hz, as well. I don't know if the...
Are you open minded about loudspeaker designs?
Rc, we all have our special needs, but I think I may get you to lean to the dark side yet. Hey, have you heard about that new woofer that looks like a heavy-duty table fan from Eminent Technology -- this may be the ticket to the best bass yet!!! I...
Are you open minded about loudspeaker designs?
Hey, as long as they're cone-type dynamic speakers, right Rcprince? :)
Nuforce
In contrast to Drubin's findings, I compared the twice-as-expensive Rowland 201s to the NuForce Reference 8Bs on Aerial 10t speakers and found that I liked the Nuforce much better in the midrange and high frequencies. The ONLY area where I felt th...
Watch out for your Paypal Account
I get one of those every once in a great while. I normally forward the offending e-mail to spoof@paypal.com PayPal is usually fast in getting back to me to confirm the e-mail was fradulent and to delete it without replying. They say they will inve...
Question about sound below an amps frequency specs
Most amps roll off gradually below 20Hz and above 20kHz, so unless the amp employs steep filters to purposely roll off the response then you should still have some output at 10Hz.That said, I don't believe many humans can actually hear bass tones ...
My oh my....guys check this out
Well, to do it properly, I think you'd really need a stereo pair of these...!
What amp with Innersound Eros ?
I tried the InnerSound amp... It was decidedly bright on the Eros. Also, the upper bass was a bit thin. But maybe you'd like a bright, thin, but dynamic sound. :)Then again, the Innersound amp sounded pretty good on the Eros when I used it with a ...
