My best guesstimate is 53.2 percent. Is there a point to your discourse? It would appear that you are someone attempting to comment on the state of the hobby from a perspective of a little reading and research rather than from actually taking the ...
Vibration
That's an intriguing subject Ketchup. Some pure objectivists would tell you that this phenomenon simply does not exist. There probably has not been enough scientific research in this area to explain the phenomenon as you have requested. Yet, in my...
Should this forum have a warning label?
Hmmm,That's an interesting point Jeff. Maybe in a way, we're all getting played. Between manufacturers comments and the zealots of certain factions, its all too easy to be led astray.Folks nowadays (the information age) are looking for quick, conc...
What is standard ouput in V RMS of a CDP?
Yeah, but what's actually clipping -- the recording itself, or the input stage of your preamplifier? That's the real question you must answer. Most preamps can handle 4.5volts without clipping, but a few may not handle it gracefully...What is the ...
Swan M200 loud hum in right speaker
Regardless, the woofer sucking in like that indicates DC at the amp output, which can do harm to the speaker. It seems that only one channel of the amp is affected, which can happen. If you can unbolt the amp from the speaker and see if you can me...
Swan M200 loud hum in right speaker
It's not the speaker's fault. Your amp has the problem. If you switched the left and right speaker cables I bet the hum would switch to the left speaker. This sounds like DC is getting to your speaker which would indicate a bad amplifier channel. ...
Anyone Tried Cable Rolling?
Guys, thanks for the comments! It does actually work well.Kurt, the surface noise is very acceptably low, but I can hear groove wear in some older records that have been played a lot. That's a little different, and changing the cartridge won't fix...
Anyone Tried Cable Rolling?
Tvad,Nsgarch was just having some fun with his comment. I had a Behringer 8024 UltraCurve Pro EQ in my system once. I could never get that system to sound "right" or anywhere near natural with the Behringer in it. It was a bad sounding piece, in m...
Anyone Tried Cable Rolling?
Well Nsgarch, I suppose that putting a high-quality EQ in the tape loop makes more sense than some of the lengths audiophiles go to to achieve the sound they're looking for... Thanks for the suggestion. :)
just auditioned tannoy yorkminster
Szutinglee,You have to consider (and you seem to know this) that you did not listen to just loudspeakers, but a complete system. So you have a totally different chain of electronics, different cables, and a different room, any of which could cause...
A question for the Pro's in setting up analog good
1: Set it to 50k although you probably wouldn't hear much difference between 40k and 50k. You could try both positions and stick with the one that sounds best to you.2: tracking weight affects the ability of the stylus to track the record groove w...
Line Arrays - Competitive with best dynanics, ESL?
I moved from large electrostatics (InnerSound Eros) and also Klipsch horn speakers to VMPS RM30s (a ribbon-hybrid line source). I'm getting the best detailing, focus, and transient speed I've ever heard. The biggest surprise is that the RM30 were ...
DK Design Group X-Dream - wow
The bulk of the review centers on how the cabinets are made and this may be justified because the cabinets undoubtedly account for 95 percent of the cost of the speaker. Man, I'd hate the thought of accidently dropping one of those beasts on my to...
Amp Help ICE or Class D
The NuForce amps are the real deal in switching amplifier technology. They've outperformed every amplifier (regardless of type or class) I've ever heard or used (to the best of my recollection).Do yourself a big favor and try them.
Review: Tube Audio Design TAD-1000 Tube amp
I looked at these amps, but I have to admit that the biasing instructions scared me quite a bit. They were prefaced by the following statement:"Very important:Tube bias must be set immediately when tubes are installed. Excessively high tube bias w...
