Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
The tape outputs of the Parasound P/LD-2000 are unusual. They do not provide enough gain to drive another preamp, only the inputs of a tape deck. Also, I think it is the high current capability of the Parasound's active output stage that makes thi...
Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
So Tarsando, which tube preamp do you use that you think is so great, and what components make up the rest of your system...? C'mon, now, no need to be shy.
Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
At this point, I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that Drmoles asked for impressions from people who have tried the aforementioned solid-state/tube setup. He did not ask for advice on how to build an all-out assault on the art preamp......
Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
Ok, well, I am a reviewer, so there is at least one reviewer's setup that is presently using that particular arrangement. It may not be the simplest solution to the problem, but it's one that works well. If the two preamps were actually combined t...
Horns for Rock.
Klipsch Cornwalls, Chorus, or Forte models should work nicely if he has a large enough room. If not, maybe a pair of Klipsch Hereseys with a decent subwoofer would rock in a smaller room.
Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
I believe there is more to this phenomenon than people realize (impedance/gain matching issues, and such). As Onhwy61 says, just because it works doesn't mean it's right. But on the other hand, since it works so well, it could very well be "right....
Using Double Preamplification vs X10D V3
Drmoles, actually, I tried and am presently using such a setup with great success. I kind of happened upon this combination by accident when trying out a new TAD-150 Signature preamp. I first hooked up the TAD exactly the way you described with my...
Help choose a power amp
Hmmm,That's weird. On most of the HT systems I've set up I get comparitively more bass when switching to CD. Maybe your receiver settings are not correct for 2-channel playback. I recall that one receiver I used would cut off the bass to the main ...
Focal Electra Be 937's placement
Maybe try putting the speakers along the long wall -- away from the side walls, if you presently have them situated on the short wall. That should help with the high frequency reflections you experience and probably provide a more pleasing bass ba...
Why is there no Mid End
Mid is not an end, it's a mean. :)
Sony 777ES digital or analog best for audio?
I don't think the Sony has particularly strong redbook CD performance, but the DAC in your receiver may not be all that great either -- so you'd really need to try it. And the particular interconnects and digital cable used would definitely factor...
Sony 777ES digital or analog best for audio?
Who knows? But if you have the cables, why not just try it and see/hear for yourself...???
Biamping with Digital amps Minimally Effective?
Many here, it seems are looking for quick, easy answers and for someone else to have done all the work and experimenting. I suppose that's okay, but sometimes there are no easy answers and you actually need to try the hookup both ways to see which...
Digital music sales to outpace CD sales
Tobias, I think you're totally right... Hey, I'll give you $100 for that old, obsolete Teac transport you have there...
How to . . . . ?
The thing that would make the most sense to me would be to use a decent tube preamp in the HT bypass loop for your music sources. That way, you could have tubes in the signal path at the push of a button. With two pairs of amps there's not a real e...
