Review: Walker Audio Proscenium Gold Signature Turntable
Albert,Thank you for the link to your article. I enjoyed it very much. I find it interesting the paths we all take -- where we start and where we end up. I'd like to see more of such articles in the audio press.
Review: Walker Audio Proscenium Gold Signature Turntable
Jafox and Rushton,Your points are well-taken and I thank you both for sharing your opinions. We are fortunate to live in this great country and enjoy the many privileges and luxuries that characterize the American way of life. I'm stepping off the...
Interconnects for the nuforce amp
I'm using the SignalCable Silver Resolution interconnects with great success. They are astoundingly good on the NuForce Reference 8 and 8B amps. And the Silver Resolution Speaker Cables are a great match as well, and provide amazing speed, detail,...
foreign lyrics -------do you care?
My point of view is a little different. Much of modern music contains lyrics that are basically inane prattle and self-indulgent dreck. Occasionally you find something beautiful and/or socially significant, but it is the exception.Sometimes I put ...
Review: Walker Audio Proscenium Gold Signature Turntable
Rushton,That's a very nice and thorough review of the Walker and I commend you for your good work in describing the Walker's virtues. That said, there is one area where I feel you copped out for whatever reason. Is there some mysterious reason why ...
Embarassing electrical question
Well, you can do that if you want, and it will work -- it just wouldn't be the best approach... I've never heard of anyone mismatching speaker binding posts.
Embarassing electrical question
No! no one would ever do that! The negative speaker post is not the same as the common ground on the input RCA's.What would you do then -- use only the positive leg of some really exotic speaker cables and RadioShack 16-gauge for the Negative leg?...
Stock Rega arm-wiring -- how Cheesey???
Okay, I finally got the BIX up and running after solving many little snags and snares, and it sounds quite good.It lacks the fine detailing of my Michell Orbe SE at 5 times the price, but for an entry level turntable costing under $1100 including ...
Stock Rega arm-wiring -- how Cheesey???
Nzera, that's exactly the input I was looking for. I'll be trying it out later today after I install the cartridge and set the platter speed. Many Thanks!
Which Audio Research gears are classics?
The spider gear and the planet gears are the ones to look for... A lot of folks head straight for the sun gear, but most of them wind up getting burned.Did you know the word "gear" is actually plural when it refers to a group of like components (e...
Stock Rega arm-wiring -- how Cheesey???
Thanks Gslone, I appreciate your experience. I think I'm going to hook it up tomorrow and see what I get. It may not be all that bad. :)
Expert Glare Tamer Required And More Depth Please
The SP-11 responds well to tube rolling. I think it is bright in the upper-midrange in stock form. Installing good 7308 tubes in place of the 6922's could make a world of difference.Beyond that, experimenting with different AC cords is a good idea...
Tube Buffer
Duypham,The results would vary depending on the input impedance of the particular amp used as well as its input sensitivity. It may not have worked well with your particular gear, but it may work very well in another system that provides a better ...
Tube Buffer
Tantra, that's a good way to do it. I used to have mine set up that way and it worked well. I think it puts the buffer between the source and the preamp; I don't believe it can put it in front of the source component. In one of my systems I found t...
Tube Buffer
It shouldn't affect system gain. Its job is to add even order harmonic distortion (tube colorations) to your system thereby making it sound warmer and "more musical"...
