McCormack DNA .5? Do I need more power?
Jedinite24 is correct. Under the new audiogon it would be impossible to send pictures directly to you. But if you contact my email address: phdunn355@comcast.net I will respond with pics.
Which B&K ST-140?
Don't buy the ST 140 with the blue and red striping as that does not sound nearly as good.
wyred 4 sound vs odyssey khartago
Unsound, thankyou for bringing this info on the CS2's. I was under the impression they presented a difficult load.
McCormack DNA 0.5 Deluxe thumps turning on/off
This is perfectly normal since there is no sound degrading relay in the signal path that would mute the sound upon powering it up.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Pubul57, thanks for you question. You already know that this thread is followed by a great deal of people in the USA and most of the free world since it is kept current by recent posts. You have already reached celebrity status including TBG as we...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Tbg, I'm not suggesting that buying better gear is a bad thing but as Jmcgrogan2 pointed out, the main theme of this thread is to solicit ideas on how to remove yourself from the merry-go-round, it's contradictive to make posts otherwise. One must...
wyred 4 sound vs odyssey khartago
Unless Klaus offers a cap upgrade for the Khartago, this amp could be dismissed for driving theils to any appreciable levels for rock music. The Odyssey Stratos with a cap upgrade would be a better choice as opposed to the stock Khartago. Also the...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Pubul57, you just made the definitive statement, just listen to the music if you can. If you check my feedback, I have not had a transaction here on Audiogon since November of last year and that has been a milestone for myself but there are no abs...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Tbg, I agree, the merry-go-round is enjoyable as long as it isn't ruining you finacially. I never had the problem myself as I have sold and purchased many items on A'Gon. I think it is critical for some audiophiles to be able to sell their current...
Specs on PSE Studio Mark IV
Rleff, thanks for submitting Deans phone number. PSE is the kind of gear that makes this hobby enjoyable. Some of the newer gear that I have had does not posess the musicality of the PSE. Musical is the key word. I am also impressed with the bass ...
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
Rx8man, I agree, Drubin gets alot of credit for this intertesting thread. The fact that it has lasted near 11 years has reliably documented that we all sometime or another have been on this merry-go-round.
Specs on PSE Studio Mark IV
I just recently picked up a PSE Studio IV amp and can agree with every positive thing that has been said so far. It is so musical with pace & drive, a real toe tapper to listen to and prefered it over a Stereophile Class A recommended amp I ow...
Tube Preamps?
I second the Audible Illusions 3A recommendation or the Audible Illusions L-1 if you have an outboard phono preamp. Even though both preamps share the same linestage, I prefer the master gain control with one volume on the AI L-1 rather than two v...
Any thoughts on the PS Audio 200C amplifier
Couldbe, the 200C is a much better sounding amp than the Adcom 555II. To put things in prospective the Adcom 555 MKII is a Stereophile Class C recommended amp and the PS Audio 200C is a Stereophile Class A recommended amp. Even the reviewer stated...
Is there any truth to this question?
You can also over-power your speakers too. I wouldn't exceed the power ratings for your speakers however it is also true if they are under-powered you can easily drive the amp into clipping especially at higher volumes and this will in turn destro...
