Heads Up: ARC is introducing the new SP-20 in Fall
Wc65Mustang, If you don't have anything positive to add about Audio Research then don't say anything because I think you are on the wrong thread, LOL. I happen to consider Audio Research gear very high end and it is built to military specs. More i...
Heads Up: ARC is introducing the new SP-20 in Fall
Audio Research products are world class and based on the projected "inspirational performance"standard as stated by Audio Research, the SP-20 sounds like a real bargain at $9,000. But even so, before I put any money down I would like to have it fo...
When did you start to love music and why?
Gz3827, actually I did read your post earlier but failed to associate your more recent post with it, my apologies.
When did you start to love music and why?
Gz3827, thankyou for your positive response. For that reason I'm going to grandfather you in. I would love to hear your story. I promise to keep it confidential if I could but you know there are hundreds of people that visit this thread and they w...
When did you start to love music and why?
Csontos, your right and I bet their whistling "Ring of Fire" which would be a very good thing!
When did you start to love music and why?
Csontos, respectfully I disagree. I know alot of people that don't even listen to music, don't go to concerts, or make music purchases, they just have no interest at all. But I think at the very least everyone that visits this website has big inte...
Tube vs. SS Dilemma
I second the tube preamp and solid state amp combination. Right now using all solid state because I like the equipment powered up all the time. Will be buying a VTL tube preamp very soon to add a different sound when I get bored with the current s...
Lightning
Wow, I didn't realize there was so many audiophiles that know this much about lightning strikes. Even the people that make a living studying lightning could learn something here.I can honestly say when it rains it pours. As if it wasn't enough to ...
Why does Amps/Preamps forum have most threads?
Honestly, if I had limited funds and I was making an amp and preamp purchase I would put most of the money into the preamp and fudge a little on the amp. I think a good sounding preamp is much more likely to carry a mediocre sounding amp, then the...
Why does Amps/Preamps forum have most threads?
There is a good reason why Amps/Preamps is listed first. In addition to the fine answers mentioned above, it is themost popular category. Besides once you post underamps/preamps you are not allowed to leave, they won't let you.
Parasound, McCormick, Odyssey - best under $1000
Wow, I didn't even notice that this thread was started in 2006 until I read Llanger's post after posting my comment. Where did the time go?
Parasound, McCormick, Odyssey - best under $1000
Forget Parasound, not in the same league as Odyssey and McCormack. Of the two, McCormack provides the most spacious soundstage but the Odyssey is one good sounding amp for the money.
Is the Eico HF 81 really that good?
Amhifi, I think its pretty darn cool that your Eico is associated one way or another with Neil Young. You truly do have a very special piece of gear.
What is your preference, Records or CDs?
Psag, wow what an excellent response and its refreshing that you have offered no scientific measurements (which would of been ok on a different day) to support your claim and if I was sitting on the fence trying to decide which direction to go, yo...
What is your preference, Records or CDs?
Mapman, you mentioned good speed control as one of the important factors for good vinyl reproduction. Do you think that direct drive as opposed to belt drive can maintain platter speed better?
