How does Aragon 24k/2004 stack up to modern equip?
Well, one could spend alot of money on audio gear. This gear can possibly float the airest highs, have a full midrange to die for and deliver tight and tuneful bass, in alot of cases it will, the law of diminishing returns do apply. There are inst...
Which is a better choice? New, or used preamp?
The fact that producing a new preamp today with quality construction will be more costlier for a manufacturer then that of yesteryear. Also some of them older preamps were built during a period of time when two channel was at its peak and alot of ...
Pre Amp Fuse Blowing
I have owned a preamp that did the same thing and it was determined to have a bad transformer. But there could be other possible problems with yours. Take it to a tech and get an estimate on repairs to determine if this preamp is worth repairing, ...
Is upgrading worth it?
I own a 1970's receiver and found that the only music that sounds good on it is 70's music, weird. Seriously though, I can take equipment upgrades that offer higher resolution as long as it is refined, transparent, and above all musical. You can't...
Classe move to China
ATI recently purchased B&K's name & inventory and they will be looking into restarting production providing they can have these new products assembled overseas. It really comes down to survival and it is sad that Made in America could be a...
what would cause volume to sudden ramp up to full?
Shoe, congradulations on owning two of PS Audio's best offerings! I have the HCA-2 and was wondering, you as a current owner if you know the difference between an HCA-2 that has a vented cabinet ( vents on the left side) and one that has a complet...
How long it take before your system/amps sound
My preamp doesn't have a power button so it is on all the time (as it was intended to be) unless it is unplugged from the wall. Intially leaving a system on overnight brings out the best sonics.

Review: Odyssey Audio Stratos Amplifier
The Stratos is an impressive sounding amp for the price but I never felt its soundstage was wide but rather acceptable. But at this price you get alot, can't expect to have it all.
bel canto and wyred 4 sound
Wyred 4 sound amps are well worth the current asking price, they are very good sounding amps, but not great. My experience with the ST-250 impressed me to some degree and felt a need to play the highest quality recordings (audiophile music) to mak...
AMC 2100 amps - what's your great bang for the $?
AMC, if you can get past the average looks, their products represent a killer bargain, much better than Adcom or Parasound in terms of sound quality. You may notice lately they are seldom seen for sale as people are finding out just how good they ...
Mccormack DNA-1 describe the sound characteristics
Dvdgreco, you can't connect the preamp to the aux input on the reciever. The only way you can hook it up to the receiver is if it has preamp in/power amp out. Then you could connect the pre to preamp ins.
Mccormack DNA-1 describe the sound characteristics
The stock McCormack DNA-1 lays the basic foundation for a potentially good sounding amp. It provides a spacious soundstage with better than average midrange for a solid state amplifier. Without question it is musically involving and fast. The high...
stupid tube question of the day
No matter what you do, tubes will eventually wear out and that is a fact of life. The most important thing is just be reasonable and enjoy the music. If you plan on listening to music on any given day, leave it on for that day. I believe too that ...
stupid tube question of the day
Dgaylin, I would leave it on all day if you plan on listening again within three to four hours for the best possible sonics. If you turn it off before retiring to bed is the best route to go.
