CD players = dead? As long as people have albums they will own a turntable and the same applies to CDs. Why not include an audio server and do all three?, I think it would be a lot of fun. I still use a FM tuner on a daily basis for news and background music and th...
Upgrading amplifiera. I don't think some people understand the importance of good amplification in the chain and everyone knows the importance of eliminating any weak links in the system. If I was going to fudge a little on a component it would certainly not be the p...
Stay away from the nad bojak, I have mutual respect for you and that old NAD amplifier that has endured abuse, beer parties, etc, and no doubt played some very good tunes from that era. Your going to have to handle that baby with some tender loving care.
Stay away from the nad After owning some of the older units from the late eighties and nineties, I don't think this gear can be categorized as problematic they are pretty much bullet proof.
Stay away from the nad These are not rare cases, this has plagued NAD for the past few years, something to do with quality control. If you buy anything from them its hit or miss. This is very unfortunate situation since they make very good sounding units.
Tube preamp with or without phono stage? Atmasphere, some manufacturers of very good sounding preamps install a phono section as after-thought or they don't install one at all. I realize that this is not always the case but I am very satisfied with my external phono preamp.
Tube preamp with or without phono stage? There is only one advantage of having a built-in phono and that is, it saves space, one less box. However if you are looking for the ultimate sound you will find a quality external phono head amp is the only way to go if you're serious about good ...
A technical question for this community Almarg, maybe the manufacturer is refering to hooking up a device that grounds its negative wires of the left and right channels to the chassis, would be a problem for a balanced amplifier. I'm just guessing.
A technical question for this community Hi Almarg, the sub has a two prong power plug however the amp uses a three prong plug, maybe I'm ok there as you mentioned, thank you for that.Yes I would be connecting the speaker wires coming from the amp to the high level inputs of the sub and...
Class D is just Dandy! Boneman73, I think the word magical does apply because I was stunned how good my turntable sounded with my Class D amp, it never sounded that way before with a conventional designed amp. It just raised the bar on an enjoyable listening experience.
Class D is just Dandy! Georgehifi, price don't always dictate performance and you sir do not have my speakers. Mark Levinson builds conventional amps very well but maybe he should leave the design of Class D amps to manufacturers that have had a good track record of bui...
Class D is just Dandy! A well designed Class D amp will bring you in and draw you closer to your music. You also will hear deeper into your music and the details you never knew existed before suddenly appear as if previously you've been listening in a fog bank. My anal...
Class D = Trash? Toddverrone, ah yes you could be right but somehow wyred4sound has managed to engineer the bass out of their amps. What I can say with confidence is that an analog power supply in class D does give you that full sound that class a/b amps posses.
Class D = Trash? I don't think there is a specified time for Class D to break-in. If there is and it would vary from one manufacturer to another should be mentioned in the manual. What we do know is that the longer they are powered up, the better they sound. The m...
Class D = Trash? The best Class D I have heard does use an analog power supply (a large Toroidal trans with banks of power supply caps). In addition, if bass is of the utmost importance then an oversize analog power supply is a must. Don't get me wrong there are s... |
