Pass X350.5 or Krell 302e?
I disagree about a Pass Labs amp sounding broken on a Wilson Sasha. My buddy has Sashas and when I hauled my XA160.5s to his house and hooked them into his system, IMO the Sashas never sounded better. In fact, I've never heard a Pass amp sound "br...
Quandry: Used Magico V2 vs. new S1
I would not put the S5 in the same "league" as the Q3. I've heard both at the same dealer, though with different equipment and in different rooms. I thought the Q3 was much more evenly balanced, more transparent and far more coherent. It just did ...
Your best ''outstanding'' products in last 5 yrs?
Ebm, did you replace your Mini 2s with one of the Q series?
Speaker input, which one, Magico, Avalon, Yg, Rock
Agree that you need to hear these for yourself. Goodwins High End in Boston could set up their Spectral gear which matches yours and the Magico and Rockport speakers in their middle room which is also about the size of yours. Take your software an...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Dkarmeli, since Thuchan asked why other tables cannot beat the EMT 927 could you list other modern turntables that you like? I have heard Basis Ovation, TW acoustics Blacknight, Brinkmann Balance, SME 30, SME 30/12 and Walker. I bought the SME 30/...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Thuchan, you started a very interesting thread.
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Thuchan your thread started asking the question implying an objective answer but I think the thread is now answering the question based on subjective opinions. Do you feel as though the question in your original post has been answered?
Quandry: Used Magico V2 vs. new S1
Would you also consider a used Mini2? That would be my choice, but then I own a pair. My dealer described the S1 as sounding very close to the Q1. I have not heard the S1. The V2 is less tonally neutral and coherent than the mini2.
VPI 3D tonearm
Thanks Stringreen. That makes sense. I completely agree that the counterweight should ideally be as close to the pivot as possible.
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Thuchan, Yes I read your post of 8-20-13 about the Timeline. I guess I did not understand that the "R 80" is the EMT 927. And your speed management is the stock system as supplied with the 927. I did not understand that or the model designations f...
VPI 3D tonearm
Why not just supply each new arm with all of the counterweights? That way, the owner would be covered for future cartridge changes.
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Dkarmeli, I don't own a Timeline, but I do use the KAB strobe to check the speed of my SME 30/12. It is spot on. If it changes due to temperature or belt wear, I can adjust the speed. I have read, and I have been told, that the Timeline is far mor...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Mosin, That is a good point about accurate speed versus constant speed. And by doing this check on a stellar vintage turntable, you seem to support Raul's point that analysis should be both objective and subjective. But how do you know from using ...
Why will no other turntable beat the EMT 927?
Raul, I agree with you about the importance of measurements and I'm sure that tt designers use them to develop their products. One well known and enthusiastic member of these forums even advocates auditioning turntables with a Sutherland Timeline ...
Feickert blackbird, kuzma 4 point which cartridge
Rockitman, Thank you for that link. It's kind of fun to watch a video review and it certainly could clarify the set up procedure for owners, but watching those fingers around the cantilever while he was mounting the cartridge and sliding it forwar...
