Adcom 5300: too aggressive for Epos M 12s?
I want to chime in and note that I auditioned the Epos M12.2. speakers last weekend, both with an Odyssee Stratos and a Sony EM amplifier. Those speakers were quite impressive. Warm and full, reasonable imaging, very good for the money. They sound...
NEWBIE: Is JITTER a dance? and CLOCK like a watch?
Looking for confirmation: is it true that ripping a CD to a hard drive, and reading off the hard drive into a D/A converter results in much less (or no) jitter?
Why so much????
I don't think Ashra has asked unreasonable questions. If someone collects porcelan figurines and has all of their walls covered with shelves (each holding 100), any of us might think they are a bit crazy. The collector may even admit to that, and ...
Hanging Speakers from the Ceiling... Macrame???
Thanks guys. Great suggestions. I especially like the web link. I'll get in touch with this guy!
How much difference between balanced XLR and RCA
Also depends if your living environment has alot of RF noise. Balanced filters all of that out. If you live out in the country, it doesn't matter. If you live in the heart of Manhattan, you may see some benefit.
Rocky Mountain Audio Fest
Shameless self promotion! I'll throw one in just to help you out!
$800 Cartridge Shootout and Upgrade Path
I've had both the Denon and the Shelter, and I can only say I am much happier with the Shelter. I found it to be more lush and overall enticing than the Denon, which I found to be more analytical and not as smooth textured. Yet I don't miss any of...
Inexpensive Integrated for GMA Europas
Tom, that was a wonderfully long and entertaining sentence! So - anyone have any thoughts on this Jolida amp? I've seen generally good reports on it. Also, Roy at GMA speaks highly of a few early '80s vintage integrateds like some Onkyos and Harmo...
Who makes a "true" Transmission Line speaker?...
I was very impressed with the Fried TL's at the 2004 CES. Both fast and warm. Good qualities! Wanted to take them home.
Castle Acoustics Inversion Series
I auditioned them about 4 years ago. Cool looking speakers with very good build quality. I was comparing them to B&W speakers, 700 or 900 series I think, floor standing speakers that cost around $700 or $900. I was at the beginning of my audio...
Odyssey Stratos, McCormack DNA 225 or Bryston4BST?
If you are going for a Stratos, I also suggest you go for the dual mono version or single monoblocks. I have the dual mono version and think it's a great amp with my Harbeth Compact 7 speakers.
Latest Sam Phillips CD outstanding
Yes, I also just picked up the new CD and it is excellent. Sonics are good, voice is very clear and pure. I would recommend it.
Halo or Odyssey
I replaced a Haffler 220 amp with a Stratos in a friend's system (McIntosh 2200 preamp, B&W Matrix 805 speakers). The difference was remarkable - more detail, more control, more solid bass, better imaging. I guess my experience was different f...
No Audiophiles in Hollywood
You're right about Hollywood - I can't think of one. But if you want to see a movie that combines passion for music (opera) with high quality audio and recording (Nagra), check out "Diva". Very highly recommended cult classic!
Which Room has More Potential?
Assuming an 8-foot ceiling, the 13x24 has resonant modes at 70, 141 and 211 hz and a volume of 2500 cu ft. The 14x16 has resonant modes 70, 141, 211, 282, 320 and 353 hz and a volume of almost 1800 cu ft. It's my understanding that modes above 300...
