Here's a interesting look at Speakers deconstructed, with a cutaway of the Focal Sopra no.2.https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/speakers-deconstructed.12518/ It's fascinating to see the differences between enclosures. My p...

Any impulse purchase is a bad thing. Take your time and do your research. If necessary, put it in the cart and wait a day or two. By then you should have a good feeling whether the proceed or not.In the end the only way to really know if something...

Flipping record causing series of loud pops
If you have to mute or adjust the volume then clearly something's wrong; most likely either static or microphonic.Muting is certainly not a procedure I'd ever be willing to adopt. Anything that sensitive is likely to be a mismatch. Why not get a to...
How much reality do you really need?
Some terrific thoughts. So am I correct in concluding the answer to the question is more reality. At the time of its release you might have been completely satisfied with a Model-T, but now it's completely inadequate. Time doesn't stand still and ne...
Help! Cure for transformer hum?
millercarbon9,401 posts06-01-2021 12:18pmThe sort of mechanical vibration hum you have is caused by DC offset. Our homes are run off 240V but instead of running everything at 240V like they do in a lot of countries someone here decided that was ...
Speaker repair...is it easy?
I'm not sure it's something that should be attempted. Even the slightest deviation off axis or a minute uneven tension could be enough to compromise the sound.Just being cautious.
Why do people say low power amps should be good for bookshelf speakers?
The only reason might be to eliminate over exuberant use of volume, which could damage speakers, so there can be no come back on the retailer.Maximum power is often quoted when THD+N reaches 1%. In my mind that's a dreadful figure. Therefore ma...
What’s the relationship between gain (dB) and power (watts)?
I'm wondering if the question is about the switch values or how it should be set?
BUI - Guilty
Getting to a state on mind where there is no need for substances is brilliant and fantastic. Sadly I realise people can end up in bad places and the only way to survive is to block feelings and thoughts.I wish it wasn't so, but what can be done?
Opinions on the ; Rosso Fiorentino Sienna or Volterra II Speakers
Call me stupid, but I don't need or want showy, bulky pieces of sculpture in my room. I'm yet to be convinced they are in any way superior, and I don't certainly believe the influencers and their hidden agenda. After all, it's the sound and not the...
Is your heart filled with a love of music, or something else?
I'm firmly in the rap isn't music camp. Perhaps it is modern poetry with a boring background noise, although I can't be certain as I vehemently ignore both.Sadly I do remember being exposed Pam Ayres. Perhaps that explains everything.
Class D amps that are superior to all or most?
jjss49 05-07-2021 1:13am there is something to the notion that many class d stages are a little too clean That's the way I prefer my listening experience. To be honest I can't imagine why it would even be considered a negative.Warm sound...

I'm happy with my Thor PS10 smart power station with its pure sine wave output.
