Why is science just a starting point and not an end point?
"science isn't letting you down it's your expectation of science" Surely science should be able to show where sound is being corrupted or deviating from a source? Science cannot predict how humans perceive sound, but it should be able to measur...
I’m new and slightly confused!
Hi Doug,Sad to hear you are saying goodbye to your high-end home theater setup.I live in a apartment and I've managed to keep my home theater setup. It is not as spacious as I'd prefer and I need do need to be mindful of the volume. The only reaso...

I just don't understand why everyone is type cast as if it is absolutely impossible to block emotions when assessing sound quality.Personally I find it insulting.Perhaps is comes from those who are influenced by appearance and price.

You mean there can never be any consensus?
Bobby Whitlock on All Things Must Pass.
Some fabulous information spoilt unnecessarily gratuitous self indulgent opinions. If anyone had a right to express his feelings it was John Lennon. After all he'd be doing all of his career; In My Life, I'm So Tired, A Day in the Life etc.
How many of you are digital only systems?
I'm still waiting for digital amplifiers and speakers.
What Are Your Reference Discs? or Specific Reference Tracks
You are able to evaluate using only certain tracks? Fascinating! Not at all. Here's my question? What recordings sound absolutely exquisite on top end systems and and are a joy to hear? Maybe I could express it this way: What have you got that ...
Hearing aids for audiophiles.
It would certainly be well worth doing in small amounts and carefully assessing any benefit before proceeding further.
Hearing aids for audiophiles.
Well yes, do accept the loss, although I'm sure you probably don't appreciate the gratuitous advise. As I suggested do what you can to improve your listening enjoyment and ignore the fact that others with better hearing might not appreciate the mo...

It is entirely possible to boost higher frequencies with Audyssey provided your equipment is capable of communicating with the phone app. As an example, the curve editor could be set with a flat response to say 2k at -5dB and then 10k set to +10...
All Benchmark System Question
What is a warm sound and why would you ever want it?From what I've been able to determine it seems pure sound is often though of as being too clinal so it's important to add some warmth, which seems to suggests a warm sound is modified or contamin...
Ok, but does your audio gear have rotons (metamaterials)?
By return I meant enter. Whatever they call it on your keyboard that takes you back to the beginning of the next line. Mechanically there are two components that worked in unison. Carriage return and line feed.

Why are equipment racks so expensive?
ozzy621,510 posts06-09-2021 12:23amThe only equipment that needs isolation is the turntable.  Absolute rubbish............ Thoroughly agree. Grab a pack of mini IsoAcoustics Iso-Pucks and try them under your CD and Blu-Ray players to get a bett...
I had a few drinks and bought some speakers, I've now sobered up
Here's a interesting look at Speakers deconstructed, with a cutaway of the Focal Sopra no.2.https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/speakers-deconstructed.12518/ It's fascinating to see the differences between enclosures. My p...
