Speakers in 10-15K price range for Classical music Weseixas - While the 40.1's would not appear to be easy to drive by looking at the efficiency rating (spec'ed @ 86db/1w/1m), they have a flat impedance curve, rated at 6 ohm nominal / 5 ohm minimum. Furthermore, the beauty of the Harbeth sound is ...
Speakers in 10-15K price range for Classical music Weseixas - my 40.1's are easily driven with a moderately powered tube amp (McIntosh MC275). Rather than criticizing others suggestions on a speaker you don't have legitimate knowledge on, why don't you come up with some recommendations for the OP.
Speakers in 10-15K price range for Classical music I agree with Nolitan... my Harbeth 40.1's are exceptional with classical music. Full bodied, dynamic and natural sounding with no listener fatigue.
Advice buying a Music Server? Just Olive 4HD? Is the Apple TV better sounding than the Airport Express, and if so, why? I tried streaming AIFF files from my IMAC thru an Airport Express into the DAC of my Audio Aero Capitol cdp and the sound was not close to cd quality. I've since gone back t...
Calling Harbeths 40.1 owners I have my 40.1's in a 4.6m x 6m room and I LOVE them (note: short ceiling @ only 2.1 meters). My room is well treated with 8 GIK 244 panels. I originally powered them with a Plinius SA 102 class A ss amp with decent results, and currently drive th...
Listening VS Reading I do 98% of my listening while surfing the web (reading news, sports, Audiogon, EBay, etc...).
can anyone recommend tube amp for dartzeel preamp? I 2nd the McIntosh MC275. There's a MK V recently listed @ $2,800 that you could probably get for $2,600. I have one and it sounds great and I've had no problems, plus you have access to excellent McIntosh customer support if you ever need it.
Original Plinius Sa-100 series amps for Shahinians I owned an SA-102 for several years... no hum & no problems.
Dynaudio C4 vs B&W 802D The C4 is an excellent speaker for Jazz and acoustic. I can't speak for the 802D's as I've not heard them.
Best Late Night Low Volume Speaker My Harbeth 40.1's are the best I've heard at low to moderate volumes.

Quick poll: Most enjoyable audio magazine ? I find Stereophile to be the best bang for the buck audio mag. I've subscribed to TAS and lesser known mags over the last decade but now I only get Stereophile.
Which of these SACD players would you choose? My experience with a used Pioneer Elite DVD player (model DV-47A) was exceptional. It was used extensively & abused by my wife and kids in a family room setting for approx. 6 years before it finally crapped out. However, the Oppo I purchased n...
Best Value in Used Bryston Amps and Monoblocks Your Levinson 23.5 is known for being a classic amp. I'd hold onto it until you can compare the Bryston in your system vs. the Levinson.
Pre-audition advice needed Based upon your amp selection and the speaker choices listed, I'd be looking at Merlin's and Devore. |
