Tube Research Labs Dude vs. Shindo Labs preamps Vinyljh... suggest you brush up on your customer service skills. Telling a prospective customer (even if they are buying used) that their post is pointless will not do much for endearing the Shindo brand to Audiogoners. Just a suggestion.
Aesthetix Calypso or Pass Labs Preamp Terryakhan - I think you have very good tubes. I can recommend you try Telefunken 12AX7 smooth plates to get another perspective. In the 6922 slot's, I've been happy with Amperex orange label, but preferred the older & more expensive Amperex (P...
Has anyone switched from Dynaudio to Harbeth I've owned 5 pairs of Dynaudio speakers, from the Audience 42's, to the Contour 1.3SE's to the Confidence C4. About 2 years ago, I sold my Dyn C4's and tried the Harbeth M-40.1's and even though they retail for approx. 40% less than the Dyn C4's, ...
Aesthetix Calypso upgrade to Signature version ? I owned the Calypso for approximately 3 years and loved it. I now have the Calypso Signature and can tell you it's wonderful and definitely better than the base Calypso. The signature is more refined, focused and sounds very lifelike to me. The im...
Moscode 402au vs Butler TDB2250 vs McIntosh MC275 Mcondon - The first integrated I tried after separates was a Musical Fidelity Nuvista M3... a big disappointment. I knew instantly that it was all bling, with little substance... I listed it within 3 days of getting it. Even ended up paying the ne...
Wanting opinions about preamps Not meaning to muddy the waters for you, but when I had my MC275 MKV, I had great success paring it with the Aesthetix Calypso with Telefunken smooth plate 12AX7's & Amperex SQ 6922's. I also upgraded the driver tubes of the MC275 with NOS Mul...
Suggestions please: upgrade from Dynaudio S1.4 I've owned Dynaudio Contour 1.3SE's, Confidence 2 & 4, and now the Harbeth M-40.1's. While I appreciate Dynaudio and still own two pairs of Audience Monitors in secondary systems, I love my Harbeth's! They are great with tube gear and also bet...
Computer output to DAC, which route? I'm in a similar situation... I have a new Macbook Pro and the DAC from my Audio Aero Capitol with SPDIF inputs. I'm leaning towards getting the Halide Design USB-SPDIF Bridge ($450) along with Pure Music software that works with I-Tunes($129). I ...
Aesthetix Calypso or Pass Labs Preamp I've never tried Pass gear, but had the Calypso for three enjoyable years, then regrettably sold it to save some money by going with a few different integrated amps. Now I've realized how much I missed my separates and have purchased a Calypso Sig...
Best preamp for 2k-3k Aesthetix Calypso is the best I've owned. Comes in near the mid-point of your budget with NOS tubes (I recommend Amperex white label 6922's & either Telefunken 12AX7's or Mullard CV4004 platinums).
Dynaudio C5 and Cary CAD-805 AE is possible????? Great speakers and great amps. However, I think that combination would be a stretch and the sound would be anemic. Suggest you consider VTL 450MB's or Rogue M-180's.
Experience w/ 40-75 watt amps on Dunlavy IVs Have never owned Dunlavy's, but can tell you I really enjoyed (and miss) the time I owned an MC275MKV. It sounded more powerful than a Plinius SA-102 class A ss amp rated @ 125wpc into 8 ohms. Really a great little amp.
Tube preamp for Pass Labs amp Aesthetix Calypso with NOS tubes. There's one listed for $2,500. I had one for approx. 3 years and regret selling it.
Moscode 402au vs Butler TDB2250 vs McIntosh MC275 I used to have an MC275 MK V with NOS signal tubes paired with the Calypso preamp with NOS tubes. It was the best combination of separates I have ever owned. If you are like me, you will miss them when they are gone. If you can swing it, you reall...
Recommend a 6922 input tube for CJ Premier 140 Jtimothya,Yes, the incoming Premier 140 will be taking my outgoing McIntosh MA2275 integrateds spot on it's own SRA platform.Your descriptions of the sound qualities of the Telefunken and Amperex tubes match my previous experiences as well, so I'l... |
