Preamp for Plinius SA-103
I used the Aesthetics Calypso with NOS tubes when I had a Plinius SA-102 & Dynaudio C4's. Can roll tubes to suit your tastes. Highly recommended.
McIntosh and "hard" music?
MC275 MKV has plenty of guts and drive, especially for an amp rated @ 75wpc. Upgrading the driver and signal tubes to quality NOS is worthwhile.
Looking for a warm linestage preamp
I agree with Ckoffend. I owned the stock Calypso for a few years... sold it... regretted it... and now own the Calypso Signature version. Make sure you research and use high quality NOS tubes.
ARC DSI200 or Bryston 4bsst2 & ARC SP16L
If you are looking to add warmth and dramatically increase your listening enjoyment, you should go with a decent tube amp. The McIntosh MC 275 MK V is a great sounding gutsy tube amp that would sound great with your Dyn's. I owned that Mac amp as ...
Most helpful audio companies
Aesthetix, Conrad Johnson & McIntosh are the best I've experienced. In all cases, I had bought my products second-hand.

Prefered Amplifiers to run with Harbeth M40.1
What's your budget.. and are you willing to go with seperates?I've had good success driving my M-40.1's with both solid state (Plinius SA-102) & tube amps (McIntosh MC275 MKV & Conrad Johnson Premier 140). The Plinius amp tended to give me...
Dynaudio c-2 ...amp advice Mcintosh or simaudio
Think you can do better than the C-220. Consider Aesthetix Calypso with NOS tubes (approx $2,400 used).
Dynaudio c-2 ...amp advice Mcintosh or simaudio
I've owned C2's and C4's. Tried the C4's with Sim W-6 monoblocks, thought they were very analytical, lacked musicality and quickly sold them. While I've never tried McIntosh gear with Dyn speakers, I have used their tube gear with Harbeth speakers...
selection of amp to drive DYNAUDIO C1
I second the Plinius SA-102. I used it in combination with an Aesthetix Calypso preamp when I owned Dyn. C2's & C4's to good effect. Would also recommend you try a higher powered tube amp if you are comfortable with moving beyond a solid state...

Samhar... that's some pretty impressive knowledge you are sporting there! How do you know that?
How Much Difference Does a More Powerful Amp Make?
In my experience, a more powerful amp does not necessarily translate into better sound. I had Dynaudio C4's powered by a Plinius SA-102 (125 WPC), then thought I'd get more out of them moving to Simaudio W-6 monoblocks (425 WPC). Ended up being th...
Audio Aero Players
I've had the original version AA Capitol 24/192 in my system for about 3 years. Had the tubes and transport replaced about a year ago. Good, warm, full bodied sound and trouble free performance.
RIP Frank Gow
I only spent about 2 hours with him over the phone last fall, but Frank was a very sincere & accommodating gentleman who provided excellent advise and customer service.
Piece of Audio gear you regret selling
Sold my Aesthetix Calypso with NOS tubes for $2300, only to buy the Signature version Calypso a few months later.
