Need some audiogon expertise
Have you had this system long? The components have been around since about 1990. Did the system ever provide a fuller bass? You're right that it should sound good. There's enough power and the speakers are designed to provide you with solid bass. ...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase
Fellow Audiogoners, I am shocked and dismayed to read of your various attempts to stretch the truth. For what? A mere addictive passion for art? I admit that I too was once propelled to such measures. How did I overcome the temptation? The answer ...

Thanks for the tip -- I'll buy the cd. So Ms. Jones is a vocal duffer, eh? First time I've heard that description ;-)
What was your greatest epiphany?
When I got my first relatively high end system and discovered that Stereo Review had it all wrong!Of course, that doesn't compare to Jeff's revelation ;-)
Fun with audio
Yeah, I thought I could save money by buying a dog and a canary, putting them in a box and avoid buying a two way speaker. Between the shots and the food, I didn't save anything. The dog also got kind of mean whenever I tried to hook the amp up. O...
Where do you draw the line???
Nrchy, maybe "drawing the line" was misinterpreted. Everyone has core assumptions about the audio world that they are unlikely to change since it is based on their experience and beliefs. I look forward to seeing other responses to your excellent ...
Where do you draw the line???
1) I believe that every component matters significantly enough that no one component is the most important2) While cables are not components per se, they generally help make or break a system3) There are lots of fine business/marketing/economic re...

Asi tek, what kinds of mods did you do? Thanks.
Concert attendance
Viridian, I just saw Robert Earl Keene in a small neighborhood theater here in Charlotte. He was great! His warm-up "band", Matt King, was also very, very good. If he's there, you might want to buy his cd since the quality is quite good. Enjoy.
The Audio Critic
I've looked high and low and couldn't find a recent issue (i.e., this year). But, every time someone thinks it died, it shows up again; with yet another opinion to raise the ire of many an audioholic ;-)
Concert attendance
More, more, more. I've finally settled into my new house so I'm looking forward to more small club/theatre concerts and more symphonies/classical concerts. Plus, some of the dance troupes here perform to live music. Large music festivals will also...
Best drink while listening to your rig?
You're right. The McManis is nice for a 2001. I've got a few bottles and will look forward to breaking them out with some moody tunes. BTW, their Chardonnay is decent, but not as good as the cab (for a nice, reasonable Chardonnay try the 1999 Meri...

Thanks Sogood51. Tireguy, I missed the original thread but you're right that it's a good idea to bring this up again. I enjoyed visiting the site. P.S. Tireguy, how do you do that? i.e., establish a link within your text
We all want to change the world. Really?
You're right that we have less music (in North America) that directs our attention to the issues. More correctly, we have less popular music that does so -- gee, could that have anything to do with the oligopolies of the airwaves? On the other han...
When did it all start?
For me, it didn't start all at once. I took a few years of electricity/electronics in high school -- even designed and built a tube amplifier. That got me hooked on electronics.During high school, a local radio station in Chicago played very unusu...
