3 Audio Deities at 6moons
Joe, thanks for pointing out the 6moons site. I'll start exploring it -- some in-depth stuff there.
Know of a book on audio basics?
Marco, great suggestions, especially the third one: Enjoying music is what this is all about. On a side note, I'm not sure I want to overcome my obsession/addiction; it's too much fun ;-)
Know of a book on audio basics?
While Zspradlin's suggestion on The Master Handbook of Acoustics is a very good one, you may want to start out with something a little more accessible -- "Sound Studio Construction on a Budget". F. Alton Everest wrote both.
Quiet refrigerators?
Wow! That's a great concept Jc. I thought it was the other way around though ... I get natural gas from what's in my refrigerator ;-)
Good, Neutral, Reasonably Priced Cables?
Sean, I absolutely got it ;-) .... just couldn't resist. We're on the same, perhaps scary, wavelength on the subject of components and environment first. I believe I'm finally at the point where I can begin to seriously look at the cables. Goertz, ...
Multichannel InterconnectsÂ….. What Are YOU Using?
I use three pair of Sound Quest Pro Series Zero Point Reference Interconnect. Amazingly neutral & a really, really great price. I also used that in my main stereo between the preamp and amp (6 meter XLR) for years until replacing it with the A...
I Hardly Listen to Music Anymore
Gardengirl, welcome to the world of posting in the forums! I think you're right about the Adcom. There're lots of great threads on cd players/dacs. If the Adcom has a digital out, you might be able to move into a better world of music with a dac u...
Good, Neutral, Reasonably Priced Cables?
Sean, et al, thanks for the great info. (Sean, are you sure you only spend 15 minutes a day on Audiogon?)Earlier, I made a comment that:"MANY cables may sound neutral in one system but not another; ALL cables will influence their systems to some d...
Quiet refrigerators?
Mknowles, I should have responded sooner -- I offered the Consumer Reports ratings only as confirmation, not as implication ;-) By the way, I purchased a Kenmore washer that was top ranked by Consumer Reports only to find that it eats up clothes (...

Good, Neutral, Reasonably Priced Cables?
Psychicanimal, you're right -- I'm branching out into both a left and right brainer! ;-) Perhaps I'm being a bit too objective. There is more that I don't know than that I do.Looking at things from a different perspective, many audiophiles have he...
what's your favorite album cover?
Osibisa by Osibisa -- flying elephants in a forest. I bought it for the cover and got hooked. Osibisa may not be the best African "rock" band, though they are quite good, but they introduced me to a new world of music.
Listening Fatigue
Stehno, I've followed the discussions with interest but still don't understand how line conditioning should work if it does not suppress offending frequencies. Does that mean the offending frequencies are passed along to the component? Or does "su...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
Elizabeth, good point. I wonder now whether the MP-3 player is a good thing -- at least it gets people back to music.
