What if Jeff Beck was a drummer?
Most musicians can actually play several instruments at a fairly high level.  If you spend your life making music then you can play the drums.  Same for piano or guitar and who doesn't think they can play the bass.  It's just that there are other ...
What if Jeff Beck was a drummer?
He would have been Billy Cobham or possibly Tony Williams.
The best part about MQA bankruptcy..
It should be interesting to see how the bankruptcy unfolds.
Should I
Talk to Rowland, they service all their legacy products.  I had a 112 power amp serviced four years ago where they did the caps and also made some circuitry updates.  Including shipping it was less than $400.  There was s note saying that Jeff R. ...
Are audiophile products designed to initially impress then fatigue to make you upgrade?
I suspect the majority of audiophiles put together a system and run it until it breaks or some major life change intervenes.  The people who post on sites like these with their constant equipment changing are probably in the minority of audiophile...
Good old days
As an experiment convert your system to a mono setup.  See if you like it any better.
Good old days
Use some of the discipline you mustered when getting your Masters and PhD and train your mind to enjoy the music and the sound.  Music can sound truly beautiful and it can also just be beautiful, but you already know that. Good luck.
Speakers and amplifiers show audiophiles are confused.

Why so serious?  Everything in moderation.
Jim Gordon has Passed On...
Whether the "Layla" story is true, I don't know, but it's been repeated many, many times.  The Delta Lady gives a detailed account in her autobiography.  Personally, I believe her.  A related story is that she broke off her relationship with Gordo...
Jim Gordon has Passed On...
Jim Gordon had schizophrenia.  He was misdiagnosed, left untreated and suffered repeated psychotic episodes.  The killing of his mother was during one of these episodes.  It's a tragic story of a supremely talented musician.
Ray Charles - "Rap is not music"
Rap music crossed over to white audiences in the mid to late 80s.  I'm thinking about the Beastie Boys, Aerosmith/Run DMC and Yo! MTV Raps.  At that point young white males were the biggest consumers of rap.  In many ways rap music has morphed and...
Is a FLAT response the IDEAL?
Listener position frequency response should be smooth with most people preferring rolled off upper frequencies.  The amount of roll off and at what frequency point varies by individual.  At the same time you cannot ignore time domain issues.
Ray Charles - "Rap is not music"
As envisioned by its founder, Berry Gordy, the whole point of the Motown Sound was to have black artist crossover to white record buying consumers.  He succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s?
Unless you were physically at the mastering session you cannot know what the recording is supposed to sound like.  If this is true, then HP's absolute sound is effectively meaningless for most listeners.  Still HP's impact on home audio reproducti...
