B W 605-S2, good for music? The Nautilus line is definately better, but the 605s are great for large scale orchestra. Big stage, good tone, and bass.
CD player with good error correction I don't think you have trouble with most of the cdps made today, although i'm sure some are better than others. I've never had any skips with my Rotel 971, even with heavily scratched discs.
Best Travelin Music "Riders of the Storm", and INXS' "Listen Like Theives" album.
25,000 for the home theater Definately get one of those Pioneer big screens. I don't know the model, but once you see it, you'll know. I like B&W speakers for HT...great vocals.
Best Integrated amp under 1k I'm not sure about how many inputs it has, but the LFD Mistral is bad man. fifty watts per channel, i believe, seems like a little more though.
DIGITAL vs. ANALOG I have to disagree with George's price point. There is a point where turntables become better than cdps, but i personally like the sound of a decent cdp, like the a3cd, over an $800 TT rig. I would place the price up around $2k for the TT, arm, ca...
PSB Gold i vs. Soliloquy 6.3 vs Hales... I totally agree with Martice and Daniel. I would add that the Rev. threes performance, especially soundstage and dynamics, depends a lot on the power and the quality of the amp. Even with low power i find the Hales to be more accurate/natural than...
Are Carver amps worth a damn? In your system, the pre, amp, and definitives are pretty level in quality. Changing the amps or the speakers, i think, would make sense. The pre and source units are good enough where they could hang around as you replace the amps and speakers. Yo...
Late 60s Stones Oh, no. You're cool. I understood you, but I was not clear. I'm not intersted in getting Hot Rocks, or any 'best of' for any band. I own Hot Rocks 'cause I got for a couple of bucks at the music store i worked at. In my last post I was partly cons...
Late 60s Stones Thanks everyone. Now I have more insentive to buy a record player. I can't believe, of all bands, the Rolling Stones don't have decent sounding cds of thier best music.
1K speaker advice? I'm not sure abou the exact prices, but B&W's 600 series and their cdm bookshelf are really good with vocals, jazz and acoustic & classical but are a little muddy with rock. I owned a pair of the dm603 series1 with an NAD 314 and found it ...
Freak Me Out Nine Inch Nails' "Further Down the Spiral" has the qualities you're looking for on steroids when compared to most of the above posts. Skinny Puppy's "Ain't it Dead Yet" is also excellent. I would also suggest the "Lost Highway" sndtrk, Prick, and ...
Best speaker a wife would tolerate She might like a pair of Merlins with a dark optional finish. ProAc speakers have a really nice finish too.
Do loudspeakers need to be Refurbished? Is it possible to store drivers so they will stay 'fresh' in order to replace your speakers' drivers years from now?
Best reviewers Michael Fremer tells like it is without all the B.S. embellishment. Too many reviewers write about products as if they just met god. |
