Shahinian Obelisk vs VandersteenTreo Outside of hearing them I don't know.
Shahinian Obelisk vs VandersteenTreo I would try to avoid the Quatros woods with lower midrange suckout. It is disctracting. I believe it is the first version. There is a later, non-CT iteration that did not have that problem. The quatros mostly solve the bass issue of the treos.
"Innovations" rooms at RMAF 2017 The Beinville Suite at Axpona was awesome. I wish I was going to RMAF to hear your demo. Good luck.
Has anyone ever heard these speakers by Volti Audio? Good description, papermill. My wife made friends with Greg and Gary at Axpona. Super cool guys.
Design a $60,000 Speaker - Start here Pay good money for a speaker and the air sucks out the signal. ;)
Voxativ loudspeakers and drivers A small segment in the intro of Stereophile's ampeggio review as well as the measurements partly explains Voxativ's design approach. Maybe you have already read it. https://www.stereophile.com/content/voxativ-ampeggio-loudspeakerCan I ask where yo...

Subwoofer speaker outputs to increase efficiency I can relate to looking for a creative solution in order to have it all and then realizing it was too left field.
$10K-15K short list? The Revel's Ultima2 line came out almost ten years ago. Not much has changed, and they continue to be a reference. MSRP for Studio2s is $16k while Salon2 is $22k. I have been leisurely looking in this price range and have heard all of what has bee...
Looking for input: Best material for mid range cone ATC addresses off-aixs frequency response as well as dynamics with their CLD fabric cone. I was thinking about them with respect their successful low distortion, high-dynamic speakers:"An ideal speaker system should have phase response linear with...
Looking for input: Best material for mid range cone I am repeating a bit. The textbook ideal material avoids resonance leading to phase distortion. Another issue is avoiding frequency dependent vibration transmission radially through the cone, a property of solid materials but not air. (ESL is a c...
Small system, high WAF The nearest alternative would be the wireless LS50 with built-in pre/amplication and subwoofer output. It has the distinct advantage of employing a more powerful amp, plus eliminating a chassis.
AXPONA 2017 Protocol I could be wrong, but this year the gold pass does not seem to include an extra hour in the rooms. In my experience, while the traffic is lighter Friday, especially after noon, the rooms commonly sound the worst at the start and improve over the w...
Is Audio Bluebook dead? I subscribed for a few days and cancelled. One problem was that models are missing. I also did not really understand what the price information was representing. Another problem is that the prices of models I have been following prior to my subscr...
Replacing KEF LS50s with Reference 1s I have not owned either, but have heard them in an A/B. The two-way design eliminates the bass congestion of the LS50, so the gain is better bandwidth, more detail and more open sound. My opinion is the improvement is large. I do not think selling... |
