Older And Wiser or just Tighter and Deafer?
I am 42 y/o and have always been very conscious about money with a lot of ambivalence and analysis paralysis about spending money on audio. I have set in my mind a total system cost allowance to help ease my trepidation. Hopefully it will work. On...

Integrated advice for B&W 705's
My experience with B&W and electronics and cables in that price range and below is that the electronics and cables are usually responsible for the HF distortion. I am not, however, familiar with your current amp. I also have not personally hea...
Small Office - Wilson vs B&W vs Kef
I would by a speaker that doesn't knowingly need a work-around.
Revel’s Sound Signature
I think the persona series is akin to the Ultimas. There is a grandiosity to Salons, though, that is hard to replicate. I think are similarities to JBL Synthesis line as well, in that they both dry, big and dynamic.
Has anyone else auditioned something that really was terrible?
I visited a very hi end dealer a few years ago to audition the much hyped Focal Sopra 2s. They were connected to an Aestetix setup. The sound was very schrill and lacked smooth transitions from mid to highs. I asked that we switch to his VAC setup...

Martin Logan Motion series. I heard them soon after they came out, so they may have been revised. In a subjective way they are objectively bad speakers. Not even overrated, but just really bad.
YG speakers: What do you like most and least about them?
For those who heard YG how do you like them compared to similar priced magico like S...That's a no-lose situation.YG is sparkly and ribbon-like. Magico is more damped.
Yg carmel 2 owners
I have only head them a few times. Typically they were setup as described by Stereophile in that instead of having a bloated bass facsimile like so many 2-ways, the bass is shelved off and is very dry. In a very small room a Dallas dealer had plac...
Wilson's Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker over 3/4 of a million US dollars
When Wilson markets a PTS to match your Ferrari, they mean it. That is kind of the market for this except the question is which of my Ferrari's? According to Stereophile it is $329,000. The limited oligarch-grade WAMM Master Chronosonic is $850,00...
Audio Furniture has its own sound!
Congratulations on your experiments. I had a Flexy with single-layer MDF and did not realize how bad it sounded until I changed to an Ikea Lack table as suggested a long time ago by a gentlemen who home-made for sale his own shelves. My take is th...
High value, giant killer speakers?
I was auditioning speakers for a couple years; the Ryan R630 made me really question spending more for the something else. Without doubt they regular cones-in-a-wood-box type of speakers, but wow, they are really well executed. Didn't find much im...
Tube Amp recommendation for Wilson Yvettes other than ARC
I don’t know to what extent, but Doshi amplifiers are made to suit Wilson speakers. They are commonly seen at shows. I own VAC which is another line with decent wattage and adjustable output impedance.
Speaker for my system around 10K$, used.
The JBL is relatively versatile in room setup and size. I own them and have heard in very small rooms and very big rooms. It can do both. The bass extension is more limited than people tend to believe; I am in a personal debate about getting subs,...
Integrated Amplifier for KEFLS50's or Bowers & Wilkins 706 S2's
My desk system is an H160 with a pair of 707s2 (which are less sensitive than the 706) and think it is perfectly fine. I have only compared it to Classe 70, NAD 314 and Lamm/VAC combo. My impression of the Hegel is that is very even handed through...
