Are there speakers with cloth/soft enclosures instead of wood?
So - speaker in free air = one hand clapping? On the other hand (!) a box is a problem too? Sorry. Home too long. On the same note, why wood? Why not granite, cement or something super-stable? I remember when that was the fad.
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
@love_that_sound  - my DSD rips sound much better on the Teac than on my former setup (Logitech Touch as streamer, Tascam DA-3000 as dac). I like my recordings from vinyl better than Tidal master/mqa. Then again, the vinyl played direct sounds e...
TEAC NT-505 impossible connecting to WiFi router o such LAN: help me please?
Working fine, for me, with the version I got in October. No problems connecting through ethernet, playing DSD files from my network server, Tidal Mqa, etc. Headphone and USB connections work ok. Lumin - ok. Since it fullfills its promise, my atten...

Preamp recommendation
I was lucky to find a used Einstein The tube mk2 for less than 40 percent of the list price in an audio forum, here in Norway. I mostly agree with the glowing review by Fremer in Stereophile - this preamp sounds like nothing, like a good preamp sh...
Where are the cheap home streamers?
I used a Logitech Touch for several years, upgrading the streaming capability, first with wired ethernet instead of wireless (would never go back) and next with Touch software mods making it - in theory - able to playback PCM 24 - 196. It was not ...
Next Upgrade??
rmdmoore - I think your strategy is right. When upgrading, start with the source component, in this case, the cartridge. This doesnt always work out, depends on your context, dont ignore good possibilities further down the chain, good second hand ...
vinyl versus digital redux
Audio2design argued that analog tapes suffer from use, not (proper) storage. My experience is different. Storage, over time, means more dull sound. Most notable on poor tapes, after 15-20 years especially. Judging from the nearly 1000 tapes I recor...
TEAC NT-505 - How good is it?
I ordered the NT-505 in August and received it two weeks ago, after an extra corona wait I was told. No problems so far. Ethernet playback of my high res files, usb playback (flash drive, also from a hard disk, usb-conneced), and streaming from Ti...
vinyl versus digital redux
I also love Its a Beautiful Day. I have a promo copy of the LP that plays very well indeed. Must play it - thanks for reminding me! I remember White Bird, is just mesmerizing. Seventies - thank you - I think the issue here is that magnetic tapes d...
TEAC NT-505 FUNCTIONAL REVIEW
Testing the headphone amp:I need a long extension cable to enjoy music from the NT-505 from my listening chair, or the sofa. So I bought a standard four-pole (TRRS) 5 meter extension cable to test, with Fiio EX1 earplugs and AKG 450 over-ear headp...
Questions about recording vimyl to computer?
First - just to clarify, regarding the NT-505: I have no complaints, in most respects. No problems connecting to the network, playing DSD and other hi-res from my server, streaming, the Lumin app (getting to know it), etc. What I said concerns the...
vinyl versus digital redux
I recorded 1000 or so albums on the Revox A77 1970-90, fully analog, to tape. I have great respect for tape detoriation, over time. With time, tapes lose magnetic bounding, or whatever is the term for this, and you can hear this especially in the ...
Questions about recording vimyl to computer?
I am still investigating the Teac NT-505. Sometimes it seems good - other times not so good. Maybe still burning in. I will soon getter a better headphone, Audioquest Nightowl, to compare.
