Budget musical sub: sealed or vented design....
REL Strata III...if that's no enough bass for you, buy two of them and run them as a stereo pair.
New system coming together Stands/Sub for 805s?
Shawn,If you look at my system, it is VERY similar to the one you are assembling. I understand your desire to maintain a high return for your dollar. Here are my thoughts...A REL Strata III is an amazing piece of hardware. Many will tell you to go...
HELP - B&W Naut. 805's good music speakers?
I agree with Sdcampbell.I own (4) N805s and love them. Mate them with a REL Strata III and for $3500.00 USD list, you'll be happy no matter what type of music you throw at them. There have been lots of posts on the N805s...the following is my post...
optical or coaxial audio cable?
Eldartford,Can you tell a difference in sound between the MULTI inputs and the regular analog inputs? When I was doing my testing (several months ago) I thought that the MULTI inputs sounded better, so I run my turntable through the R/L of the MUL...
optical or coaxial audio cable?
Hmmm...interesting. Guess I was wrong. I've never really used the analog out of my digital source into the 1066.If you have more than one analog input in use, which input will it default to?Sorry for taking this thread WAY off topic.
optical or coaxial audio cable?
It is the input defined in the OSD. if you select "optical" with the OSD, and only have a co-ax or analog input, it will *not* default to the next available (valid) input.
Rotel RSP 1066?
Sorry to link to another site, but HTGuide has a really good discussion group focused specifcally on Rotel hardware:HTGuide Rotel DsicussionCheck the FAQ...it answers both of your questions.
Upgrade path from a B&W N805.
I'd look at Vandersteen 3A Sigs ($3500.00 new). That would be my upgrade path from the N805s.I like my REL Strata III with my N805s, and I'd even be happier with 2 of them.
Rotel RSP 1066?
The RSP-1066 is a solid piece of hardware.Make sure you have the latest firmware on the 1066. I personally was responsible for one of the bug fixes, and it greatly improved some music modes.
optical or coaxial audio cable?
Eldartford,There is an element on the left side of the 1066 display that show whether the active input is "coaxial" or "optical". I thought about including "analog" in the mix, but all I had was crap RCA cables, and I'm more interested in using th...
optical or coaxial audio cable?
I didn't hear a gain difference. Instruments seemed more defined in space. Mind you, the difference was slight, but still noticiable. I've got both cables still attached, so I'll keep testing, too.
optical or coaxial audio cable?
I just tested the difference between co-ax and optical cables in my system. I'm running a Denon DVD-2500 to a Rotel RSP-1066 using a Monster Cable fiber-optic interconnect (0.5 M) and a Monster Cable Video 2 interconenct (1.0 M) for the co-ax conn...
Is there an advantage to more tubes in an amp?
Good stuff! Thanks for all of the replies. The links are great...I'm working my way through them.
New to the 2 channel where to start??
I used to agree with the "build your system around your speakers" philosophy until I hear $300.00 speakers driven with $3,500.00 worth of tube amps.I guess the first question would be "what is your budget?"
mmf-5 set-up
If that "uncut LP" test is correct, then my MMF tonearm stay motionless when the anti-skate look is on the first notch (the notch farthest from the stylus). My stylus moves toward the center of the LP when on the second notch.
