My favorite is, "In conclusion after my glowing review, at x dollars, the jimmy-who component pales in comparison to my personal reference fling-flong component at 7x dollars or even the whoopdee-doo component at 3x dollars...but still it is reall...
Need help with tracking vinyl
Back in grade school (20-some years ago), an assignment for program I was in was to create a product and a marketing campaign for that product. A guy in my class came up with a product quite similar to this. He put old 78s in his oven until they g...
Recommendation for REALLY inexpensive receiver
I owned a Denon AVR-3300 for about 2 years and sold it about 8 month ago for about the price you are looking to pay. For a receiver, I thought that it was pretty good (especially if you pick one up for $450).What annoyed me most about the AVR-3300...
How Do Odyssey Amps Stack Up To McCormack Amps.
Wow...there's been some interesting stuff written about the Odyssey line over at HarmonicDischord.com. On paper, it looke like it would be pretty tough to beat the upgraded monos. How about the Tempest pre? Any thoughts on that? How's the phono sec...
B&W N805 vs. Revel M20
I did a comparison of the B&W N805 and the Revel M20 at Marvin Electronics in Fort Worth, Texas. I found the M20s to be on the "cold and analytical" side of neutral. I own the N805s and my primary (and only) complaint is that I feel that they ...
Willing to be proved wrong.
Vinyl is a delecate medium. Poorly treated vinyl will sound, well...poor. If the vinyl has been abused, then there really isn't anything that I know of that can be done. If it's just dirty, the look into the cleaning supplies from http://www.discd...
Next upgrade for vinyl rookie
What is it that makes you unhappy with your system? What are you expecting out of your system? Are you sure that your source of dissatisfaction is your table?Personlly, I would buy the DiscDoc cleaning system, then spend the rest on some vinyl.
Dallas Fort-Worth Phono Stage Shootout
I may be in...I don't have a high-end phono stage to contribute, but if you'd like to throw a Rotel phono stage into the mix (with many hours on it), I'd be happy to bring it.
Best amp to drive B&W N805's
Has anyone tried the Cary Rocket 88 with the N805s?
Entry Rega,NAD,Project,MusicHall Catridge question
I would suggest a different approach (from someone who was once in your position) - don't concern yourself with "tweeks" and "upgrades" until you get some experience with this medium. The myriad options will boggle your mind. Get a table that will...
Vandersteen 5 vs Model 2c/2wq Combo
I agree with the above posts...if you can't afford the appropriate hardware to drive the 5's (or now the 5A's), you'd be better off going with the 2Ce Sigs or the 3A Sigs. Also, don't get caught up in the "It can't be good if it's not uber-expensiv...
Anyone use a Pledge "Grab-it" on their vinyl?
Are we sure we're all talking about the same product?http://www.pledgegrab-it.comI have in my hands a package of 20 Pledge Grab-it Dry Disposable cloths. According to the package, "...Pledge Grab-it Scented Cloths use an electrostatic charge to at...
Alternatives to Dunlavy speakers?
Also, take a listen to the Vandersteen line.
I need 'decent' speakers for my cheap system
Sogood51, I have to disagree on one of your points...there are plenty of (what I consider) reasonably priced speakers out there. The Vandersteen, Theil, and Dunlavy lines are perfect examples. You can spend less than $1000.00 or more than $10,000....
