I agree with Glen. Granite and metal cones. Rigidity is where it's at with a Garrard. I too tried softer items on the platform and I could tell the difference between oak/cinder/brick/concrete/granite with granite being superior.

I use them too. Bits of leftover wood. It keeps the cables off the concrete floor away from the daddylonglegs.

If you heard a rig with a Jadis,  you may have also heard other good components. Maybe they were making the good sound.

Not much to add other than I have a second rig with Spendor SP2/2 on the end of rebuilt 1960s EICO HF35 monoblocks with 6L6 tubes. Not too loud but sweet as a nut.
