Is it possible that tubes actually get better with age?
Maybe the OP is asking if unused tubes sound better as they age like cellared wines.
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
it is possible that the live sound from aluminum, if indeed  it is from the arm itself, could be energy from the cartridge that is causing the arm to color the sound in a rather pleasing way.  The dead sound from fiber, if indeed it is from the a...
General question on Carbon fiber tonearms versus aluminum
That subtle lack of noise and distortion in the upper frequencies were considered a lack of "air" and consequently colored the sound in a bad way.  This isn't the same as acoustic ringing or damping. Dolby effectively filtered frequencies (-3 dB a...
Hdmi causes crosstalk between external preamp sources
If it were me, I’d disconnect everything one at a time until the issue stopped. Then plug the offending item back and see if the issue comes back. Once that single issue is, um, singled out, you can do more targeted troubleshooting.

Do you let the turntable spin when putting down record and attach the clamp.
Platter is always spinning for the session. No clamps or weights.
Question on VTF (What should i adjust it to?)
General rule. Lower end of VTF tends to give a brighter, more detailed and slightly lighter presentation. Can mistrack if you go too low. Higher end of tracking force tends toward darker and heavier sound. May vary with cartridge. The same variati...
Who else is using old cables/interconnects, and is happy?
Phono cables are default Jelco JAC501. They seem fine. Better than an Audio Sensibilty cable I tried.Interconnects are interesting. I’ve tried a few options with the best of intentions. While they all have had some nice aspects to the sound, they’...

I also use Clear Day solid core solid silver speaker cables on the second rig. Took a few months to break in and open up fully. Bought them a few years before Paul passed away.
