Anyone with tinnitus or hearing loss who is into "high-end" audio? I have mild tinnitus and high-frequency hearing loss in both ears. Probably from too many concerts too close to the stacks...I can still hear differences in equipment and music presentation. I’m sure I’m not hearing everything, but I can hear ...
Jazz for someone who doesn't like jazz. There are some great Jazz selections already listed, so no need to repeat them here. If you want to take a step from Rock towards Jazz, you might consider Fusion or Progressive Rock genres.I find Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, even Carl...
Happy Scale At about 23, I was working as a sales guy at a stereo shop in Santa Cruz, CA, I has Klipsch La Scalas driven by Paracas monoblocs (sr# 1 & 2), I think the preamp was an Audio Research, but I don’t recall the model. Turntable was a Sota Sap...
Why are brick and mortar HiFi dealers so bad? For those in the Seattle area, I have found Olson’s HiFi (olsonshifi.com) to be very good. They aren’t pushy, they have rational advice, they lend components for people to try at home, and they have a generous return policy. They also stock an...
Trying to find an amp that matches my tastes (aka death metal) I don’t know if your PL Prologue Classic accepts the KT150, but I put these in my PL Dialogue HP and was blown away by the significant increase in slam, power, detail, presence, and soundstage. YMMV, but I found this to be a great upgrade.
Diving into the world of tubes...help needed! I own the PrimaLuna Dialogue HP Premium Integrated with the KT150 tubes. I love this Integrated, particularly with the more powerful tubes. It drives my XStatic full range electrostatic speakers really well and to loud levels.May your ears enjoy ...

I started with the EL34 tubes and move to the KT150. You can find these PL Integrateds used for about $3k.In this price range you have lots of options as others hav...
SCAM ALERT ON MULTIPLE CRAIGS LISTS - Watch Out! I ran into a very similar add, but it was for Martin Logan Summit X speakers for $3,000. These were supposedly located in Sebastian FL.I went through a nearly identical exchange and then backed out as the terms seemed too weird to me too.You hav...
Electric feedback from water circulation pump I’d suggest you explore an accumulation tank that you can fill with pressurized water so your pump runs less frequently. This is a very inexpensive solution that will decrease your electrical bill and increase the life of your pump.
Amps with meters ... Back in the early 80’s I owned a Phase Linear 700mkII which had the coolest looking meters I’ve ever owned. While I think meters look great, they actually do not represent any facet of music I care about. It is sound first and cosmetics second...
Your favorite Electrostatic, Panel spkr Mike,I don't want to hijack the thread. Yup, the panels are curved like the ML’s. The total speaker height is 75-3/4” and the panels are approx 13” wide by 65-1/4” tall.thanks.
Your favorite Electrostatic, Panel spkr I have a pair of XStatic EC/X full range electrostatic speakers paired with Klipsch 112SW subs (the subs are OK, but the weak link here). These are all powered by my PrimaLuna HP integrated tube amp. Sources are all high-res digital. At 34W ...
Your favorite Small Apartment Speakers Proac Super Tablette, simply amazing dinky speakers. Need a good/fast subwoofer though.

My Thoughts re: Dealers Posting on Audiogon I think dealers, such as AudioTroy and others, add real value to the conversation. They have experiences that we can not duplicate, or at least I can’t, as I do not have access to the equipment they do. I find their contributions for the most ... |
