Trying to build dipole sub - a la Celestion 6000 The reason you don't see much of this is because there's not many crazy enough to try. "Dipole subwoofer" is about as close to an audio oxymoron as an unbiased opinion.
Trying to build dipole sub - a la Celestion 6000 Should add that Madisound offers a service to precision cut the wood. For this purpose, there are some pro amps that offer gain control, delay, crossovers and DSP along with gobs of advertised power for between $500 and $1000. Crown XTi series, Pea...
Trying to build dipole sub - a la Celestion 6000 http://gr-research.com/sw-12-16fr.aspxhttp://www.aespeakers.com/However, you may want to look for some form of equalization for the 6 dB rolloff, perhaps DSP. There's Digmoda that has built-in DSP on their plate amps but, of course, plate amps are...
Why do planars have poor bass extension? Aside from the Infinty IRS V and the Genesis 1,2 and 3 series, can't think of any other planar using either flat or folded "wings" and they all had sealed woofers and somewhat different bass expectations.Getting beyond theoretical but...http://www...
Why do planars have poor bass extension? Dipole panels have the same problem with bass as open baffle cone speakers. The technology is less relevant than basic acoutics. As an experiment, try 1' deep plywood "U-frames" on panel speakers.
integrated amp suggestions solid state Check out the Jungson JA-99 or the DA-300
Electrical Sub panel I'm no EE but "power isolation" to me says transformer. Lots of ways to do this. Before the panel, feeding it 240V, you could use a 240/480-120/240 shielded transformer in the 5 to 10 KVA range (40A minimum), for example:http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NEW...
Genesis 500 series Amplifier repair Maybe try talking to Cullen Circuits in California. Web site seems to be down.
GENESIS VI or V Not sure I understand the question but if you're looking for crossover schematics, let's just say, "bon courage" or "bonne chance", whichever is more sarcastic. In this industry, public disclosure is rare. Arnie, in particular, was very private ab...

Help on Electronic Problem Unfortunately, a gas fitter is usually not equipped or experienced with electrical noise issues affecting audio gear. Really not an electrician's realm either. Fan probably switched by something as simple as a thermostatic "snap disc", probably up...
What's The Big Deal About Battery Powered Preamps? Batteries can have a lot of "juice". Actually, that's where they're best. How many amps is your car battery rated for?Had the original battery preamp, the Mission 776 from the 80's, and it was more dynamic and without the bloated bass of the dual ...
How much can be measured -- and how much cannot? My brother, who's a professional audio engineer, recently had to develop his own test gear, sensitive to smaller than picoseconds.
When Bi-amping is there change in sensitivity This is why I don't turn the lights off. Don't want the electricity to build up in the wire like water behind a dam.:)
