Audio Research VT100 MK1 and LS15 HELP!!! FWIW, Some European sourced small tubes do flash on turn-on. Not at all unusual and it is not significant. I suspect, as others, that your problem may be speaker location (set up in your room) combined with the basic difference in the sound of you...
Swapped long wall to short wall and now I am having some big issues Re room acoustic's - my room is 13.5x19.5x9. I have Silverline Boleros. I'm not familiar with your speakers but I've certainly encountered your issues in setting up my speakers. I did something based on what many professionals do when setting up ...
Does anyone know the bias on a VTL 225 with KT90 tubes in them? Try Google and review VTL's biasing instructions. I don't believe the values would vary between KT88's or KT90's, and they tell you how to do it if this is your first time out. Good luck.
Classical Music for Aficionados For adventurous Bach enthusiasts - '13 ways of looking at the Goldberg' by Lara Downes on Tritone Records (CD). A very interesting journey into the possible. Enjoy if you can. BTW, this lady, who I really enjoy, has an interesting discography. Fo...
Acoustics You might consider changing your listening position - too close to a wall for example can really boost the bass. Inches can make a difference. If you haven't already done so, you might check out the Cardas set up - it is at worst a good starting p...
Acoustics As dweller suggests move your speakers about - the spikes you are experiencing suggest to me that they are the result of room nodes which can be changed by speaker relocation. Another possibility is to use a sub woofer crossed over at 120hz +/- an...
Classical Music for Aficionados Schubert, Nice headphones - I have a pair and use them often with my Marantz CDP which has a built in headphone outlet. I can see why you like them. I found they had a warmer mid range than my Senn's and were very easy to listen to and much more c...
Classical Music for Aficionados jim204, Re 'smaller forces', i.e. big works with a chamber orchestra. I totally agree that there is little more refreshing especially with the old warhorse works by Beethoven, Brahms, & Schubert. I first discovered this with Harrnoncourt's Bee...
Classical Music for Aficionados Re Liszt, I'm not so fond of his original works for solo piano but I really do enjoy a lot of his transcriptions (depending of course on the performer) and his Annes which I listen to more (usually in its parts) than the famous to B minor sonata. ...
Do I go from a Primaluna HP Integrated to Schiit Freya+ and a pair of Aegir Amps? Good question, I'm curious as well. But they are pretty new so I don't expect to hear much soon.
Classical Music for Aficionados jim204 & two left ears, I agree with you both on a high ends systems inability to reproduce anything close to real over a home system. For me though a modest system and a good recording can serve well in bringing me me into the music itself . ...
Do you have to be “in the mood?” Music seems to always be 'on' in my house, albeit a lot of it is in a background mode. For me mood is not an issue so much as opportunity. When I want to hear what is on the disc in it's purest sense I use headphones (I have a dedicated headphone ...
Is there such a thing??-- Tube Preamp Question Wow, you have a lot of speakers! From the spec’s on the speakers and the Amp I would guess that the greatest noise issue would develope when you are using the Spatials. Very high sensitivity amp (2.9v) coupled with high speaker efficiency (95db) w...
Classical Music for Aficionados "Earl Wild was one of the great pianists of the 20th century"Hard to argue with that statement and, FWIW, he was made in America. :-)I'm very partial to his recordings for solo piano, and especially his transcriptions. Easy recommendations for 'Ra...
Is there such a thing??-- Tube Preamp Question Tube preamps which are properly set up AND matched to associated equipment do not have to be a problem, but the potential for problems do exist when the amps and preamps output gain it too much for the speakers you utilized. High sensitivity speak... |
