What outlet should I choose.....
Sammie, I agree with your last sentence. Personally, I would opt for the less expensive outlet. Unless you have the finest equipment capable of revealing VERY subtle differences in your room, I doubt that you would ever hear a difference, assuming...
Audio Mags/A believer or skeptic?
I look at all of the pretty glossy pictures in the 'rags', then I read all of the reviews, then I check all of the internet sites for user comments, and when I've finished all of my research I decide I can't make a decision and go back to my fanta...
DK Design Review
"I'd look into a 12 step program real soon"Then you should. :-)
DK Design Review
"DK is taking over the industry". What a crock of crap that is! X-Dream F7, is that in production? Where can I audition it or buy it? Perhaps Larry is just waiting for the opportunity to pounce on the opportunity that the review presents, or more ...
Jumpers - How good do they really have to be?
Consider that your question considers the effect of using a couple of inches of wire between your speaker cable and the internal wiring (which for sure is not the same). Personally, I would opt for the less expensive version of AP's jumpers as I s...
Need a review of Tyler's Ref 3's,
Bartockfan, I think you just have to listen to the Linbrook Sig Systems with the dual 8" woofers and the Ref 3's. You may discover that the MTM & dual 8" woof's give a smoother integration between bass and midrange than the single mid/woofer o...
Do you believe everything you read on the internet
I tend not to believe anything from a source when I have no knowledge of the source's motivation. I just file it away for background. Around here your financial survival and mental health requires as much - caveat emptor rules!'taint just the net,...
New to tubes have questions
1) No. But the sound may not be all that pleasant. I typically turn on my system and let it warm up (with music playing) at lower volume for about 30 minutes.2) Yes. A couple of minutes for initial setting, and then after about an hour or two for ...
Would spikes help me?
Didn't Tyler supply spikes? The spikes for my speakers were in the base at the bottom which is removable, but then these are not the PD series. Give Ty a call. FWIW spikes thru carpet to the floor will give you at least a more secure foundation fo...
the changing sound of compoents over time
Pabelson, An astute astute response. LOL. I'll be sure to stay out of the attic. :-)
Musical Fidelity X-10v3 Problem.....
As I recall, this is a tube buffer stage. Have you checked to see if the tube is functioning. Try a new tube!
concrete vs. wood listening room
No down side to using spikes on carpeted concrete, in fact it will usually help give you a more secure connection to the floor and make the speaker more stable (assuming that you use 4 spikes, not three. I found that three spikes under a tall spea...
Krall's Look of Love soundstage more to the left
Andy2, I've listened to both albums and I get a very even image. Can't explain your problem. Any chance you've blown a tweeter in your right speaker? That would explain why the voice is centered as that's mostly from the mid-range driver. Hope not...
Krall's Look of Love soundstage more to the left
Just put it on the player - Voice is dead center in the first cut and so it goes there after (actually I took it off after 4 tracks). Not the CD. Ears or set up perhaps - do you hear this left of center image all of the time, or ever, with any oth...
Is there any benefit to a tubed phono stage?
Can't have too many tubes! :-)Actually there are some fine SS and Tubed phono stages. I'd make my choice based on tone and versitility, that is the ability to adjust so you can use different types of cartridges with different gain and loading requ...
