Mott The Hoople
Martykl, glad to see someone else here who's into Alejandro Escovedo. Saw him for the "Real Animal" tour in Ft. Lauderdale and bought the vinyl at the show. He did "Young Dudes" for the encore. His new one "Street Songs of Love" just came out. I c...

Why I like my home system better than live music
Agreed. But a decent sounding live concert at which the performers are really putting out is a treat which can't be measured against the advantages of home audio. They are different experiences. While my stereo usually sounds, in some ways, better...
disappointing VPI 16.5 performance??
On tough records, I use the same process as Rick Hilton.Be aware . . . some used records look great but sound terrible. (Some look terrible, but don't sound too bad at all!) Visual grading is no guarantee. If the previous user didn't have the cart...

New reissue of Exile on Main Street
Jdoris, I agree "Exiles" is not the beginning of alt.country, but I think Tweedy & Farrar would agree it goes back to at least Gram Parsons, with The Byrds, "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," then The Flying Burrito Brothers (especially The Gilded Pal...
Need advise for 7.1 system speakers
For $1200, you're best bet is to stick with 5.1. Better speakers is better than more speakers. I would check out Paradigm. Unfortunately, your listening area is rather large for small speakers, but used Paradigm monitors or Atoms give great value ...
New reissue of Exile on Main Street
There are some great songs on "Exiles," but I always thought it was an uneven record. My personal favorites are "Beggar's Banquet" and "Let It Bleed," followed up by "Sticky Fingers." Oh, and "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out." I wore that last one out a coupl...
