Ethics: To what degree?
The "protection" alluded to aspects of this "community" has always interested me. In virtually any other venue, we see no reason not to announce that we had a "bad" meal or "bad" service at some restuarant or voice some complaint about something (...
Cartridge Leads
First, I do believe the leads make a difference. I use the AQ Litz/w cotton leads. I have read somewhere about some dissatifaction with the Cardas spring clips themselves. I would imagine that VDH silver would make a difference, just like copper v...
New Cart? Best all around performer...MM or HO
Although I curently use a ZYX R100, it replaced a Grado Sonata, which does midrange very well and HF/LF adequately for a MM. My friend uses a CA Maestro and has nothing but great things to say about it, especially comparing it to MC's he's had in ...
Does a good sounding surge protector exist?
Another APC H15 user.
Does the"quality" of jumpers affect the sound?
Tvad- Wiring into the upper post and jumping to the bottom is something I've been doing (and suggesting) for quite a while also from recommendations by Tannoy and Stuart Marcus (Vampire Wire). It's good to hear others using this technique.
Does the"quality" of jumpers affect the sound?
If you don't believe that splicing a four-inch piece of inferior wire into your primary speaker cable run will effect the sound, then no, jumpers made from the same cable won't make a sonic difference. Use the brass bars. Whether using expensive j...
Power conditioner plugged into computer battery
I use an APC H15 (non battery backup) in my HT and it works great. It does not limit the current to either mt B&K receiver or ART of Sound sub. It enhanced the video picture also. With voltage regulation and surge protection, it has been terri...
Dimmer noise
When I bought my house, it had nothing but dimmer switches. I changed them all.
Sales: truth in weight?
When I did question shipping cost regarding an LP being shipped by Media Mail (THE cheapest and slowest form of delivery), I was informed that the inflated cost was for shipping AND handling. This was not part of the ad and nothing that I know of ...
What a voice
Funny thing, last Sunday I was just pulling vinyl and listening to various LPs and I played Frankie Laine's hits. On Tuesday he died. Just a lucky appreciation of a great voice before he left us.
HiFi lacking social recognition?
Crap! This was my only chance to get into Forbes. Oh well...
Mitsubishi LT-30 specs needed
I'll see what I can do when I get home. I may have a manual, or at the least provide you a name of the person I bought my LT-30 from who might be able to help.
What cable would you choose?
Outlaw PCA's are made with continuous cast copper, which should sound pretty good. The only thing holding them back are the cheap connectors. Before break-in, they do sound just as described above, harsh, etc. I use CCC cabling from Vampire throug...
Anybody still using soft rubber isolation devices?
I've gone from Sobothane to brass cones to (finally) Myrtle wood blocks (with a thin layer of Sorbothane on the bottom between the block and the shelf). All under the amp.
Sealed Loudspeakers?
NSM and Role Audio speakers are generally sealed.
