speakers and cables LOL, knew I opened up a can-o-worms. There are of course several ways to do this..... Using RCA cables, they make filters that attach right to the end of the cable, then go into the amp. They also make ones that go on the speakers these would...
speakers and cables @grislybutter Yes, confusing. Normal sub cutoff is 60-100 hertz, your mains go down to 40, and the lowest your subs can cut is 80, maybe try 100? There maybe a variable lowpass XO out there for you, that way you can dial it in. One sub can wor...
speakers and cables This is becoming the most consisting thread. Your 2 subs start at 80 Your Mains go down to 40. Why did you get 2 subs in the first place? Your bass is going to be muddy, that is a lot of overlap. Might need to put a low pass filter on the mai...
Graphene Sluggo - Unlocking Sonic Scenery Basically, you remove the fuse from each component, or all the fuses in the component. Then add the slug into the fuse holders. All fuses are not solid slugs. Then you add the circuit breaker/fuse to the power cord of each component, and you hav...
speakers and cables I ended up with this, it has more (too much) bass for sure but I will play with it, check the phases as advised above and figure out the right settings. It did push me to dislike my amp as it has connection issues, I almost have to hit it with a...
speakers and cables @mswale , if OP hooked up to both of his subs from amp + to + and - to -, and then he went from his subs to his speakers in the same manner (+ to + and - to -) is there any reason that his subs (or speakers) would be out of phase with each other?...
A nightmare regarding streaming? Never lost a playlist, but have had music disappear, the service stops streaming that artist. For me, if it something that I really like, or is important, I buy it. What bugs me with streaming is that they are always changing something. Tidal h...
Isolation devices- to use 3 or 4 footers? Just starting to use footers myself. Started with my TT, that has 3. From what I have been reading (lots of white papers, feel like I'm back in school) the number of footers doesn't matter much, or really what you use. What matters most is that ...
speakers and cables Might not be the smartest guy in the room, I don't understand why this is so difficult. You have 1 amp, 2 subs and 2 speakers. You are going to be using line level inputs on the subs. You have L/R subs Amp has L/R outputs There are L/R speak...
Marantz vs. Arcam @soix, thanks, wasn't planning on the purchase, was going to buy some room treatments for the 2ch room. Thanks for the link, they do not have the 8015, only the Cinema 30, at $4500. Mine is basically the same thing, in a different chassis for le...
Marantz vs. Arcam Just went through this, my old Marantz SR7010 has a short on the right channel terminal. It would shut off, and not turn on at random. Tried to pull it apart to fix the plug, but would have to disassemble the entire receiver to get at it. Decided ...
Shorting plugs I'm a vintage audio guy, a lot of vintage stuff used to come with these as OEM especially for unused phono stages. Not sure they do as much with some of the newer all digital stuff. But they do help with analog setups. What I have found is they ...
Would you still pay $10k or more for a turntable not full analog front end these days ? I am happy with my streamer/dac box. With the right set up, It sounds great. Digital changed the music business. Record labels, musicians, etc are not getting paid what the used to. So, why not keep the old medium alive. No one mentions how dist...
Looking for RCA cables from preamp to amp? These are not fancy, just quality. They sounds just fine. Tried a few different cables on my systems, and these sounded just as good as some much more expensive cables. https://www.bluejeanscable.com/index.htm Kind of think most cables in the $...
Apple Music streaming vs "direct" connection My streamer will stream directly, so usually just do that. While I am an Apple guy, casting has a higher bitrate over Airplay. IMHO, doing it direct sounds better. It also allows me to move around my house without any music dropping. |
