Soeaker cables technologic dilema…
@milimetr - run them as a twisted pair or cross-connected quad - that is why they design them that way.
Belden 8402, 8412, and 8428
@climbereg - As a high level summary, my opinion is that all of the tinned copper Belden varieties displayed the rich midrange-centric "real sound" discussed by Jeff Day and Mr. Shirokazu Yazaki of SPEC Corporation in the Jeff Day blog here and he...
Soeaker cables technologic dilema…
@milimetr - Not clear if you are talking about a double run of the 3005 in a bi-wire configuration where one pair goes to the MF/HF posts and one pair to the LF posts, or two separate runs with both wires inside of one jacket going to one polarity...
Is it possible to find a good DAC for under $50, 000?
@kennymacc +1 The mention of high dollar gear sure brings out the annimosity in these threads. I don't understand the point.  Where do people think the trickle-down technology that goes into mid-priced gear comes from? Somebody has to buy the hig...
Tube vibration control
Both responses below have good points.  Think about where the vibrations are coming from, which seems more likely from the floor, the equipment stand, sound pressures in the room, IOW mostly external to the tube.  Good support and damping of the e...
How remove odor from interconnect?
@gbryant - Interesting observation.  In the case of my cables, the dude probably used his entire supply of Old Spice just before passing.
Soeaker cables technologic dilema…
BTW, the Neotech NES-3003G cable you pictured is not the same as the NES-3003 Mk II you reference in your most recent post, so be careful to understand which you are purchasing.  The pictured NES-3003G does not use silver plated OCC wire, it uses ...
Belden 8402, 8412, and 8428
@climbereg - I ended up expanding the comparisons to include 8402, 8428, and even 8408, which is constructed exactly like 8402 except using 16awg conductors. I then included a couple of types of (un-tinned copper) cables from Gotham AG, which is ...
Soeaker cables technologic dilema…
I never used them but the parallel ribbon configuration resulted in quite low inductance.  Many liked them back in the day.
Soeaker cables technologic dilema…
@faustuss  "You could argue that lower inductance is a good thing and capacitance doesn't matter anyway." Yes, in speaker cables, low induction and resistance are desirable and capacitance matters little until it becomes so high as to affect amp...
Im going to regret my cable question
@decooney  "You might be surprised where AudioQuest sources their pure copper conductor from in the upper cable lines" Ok, I am curious, where do they source it from?
How remove odor from interconnect?
@gbryant - In my case, it was the odor of bad men's cologne.  I have had this issue happen twice but this most recent event with the Cardas cables was the worst.  I assumed it was somebody's weird attempt to hide smoker odor.  I am not a cologne w...
Aries Cerat Helene vs MSB Premiere DAC vs Lampizator Pacific 2
I have a Helene on its way here and I am curious about where you Helene owners source your E280F input tubes in the USA?  Also, do you have a favorite GZ34/5AR4 rectifier tube?  I have read that the rectifier tube is important to how the Helene so...
What might pair well with a combined Laiv Harmony uDDC and Laiv DAC?
You can add the Singxer SU-6 to the list provided by @mbolek.  Most of those provide adjustable pin settings for I2S and they also provide other various outputs such as AES/EBU and S/PDIF via RCA and/or BNC. The Holo Red mentioned previously has ...
Background vibration and your system.
Many manufacturers take their own stab at resolving possible issues for their own gear. I say possible issues since every system location is different with different external influences, like flooring type, size and support of nearby speakers, rac...
