Six DAC Comparison @zlone I am in year three and wonder how I ever found time for a job. I hear that a lot and starting to understand - crazy!
Six DAC Comparison The comparison is ongoing. I am not rushing things and have other things going on like home projects and bike rides while the weather holds. I just retired last month so I am catching up on a long delayed to-do list of stuff while still occasional...
Six DAC Comparison @bassdude - Please take your playbook, your mission and your own advice and, "move on to those other threads." This thread has nothing to do with ASR, measurements only, or any of the other crap people here use to drive a wedge. The discussion w...
Six DAC Comparison The OP cited John Atkinson’s opinion of the Benchmark based on quantitative measurements, not subjective quality. @helomech - That is true but Jim Austin’s “subjective” listening review compared it favorably with his PS Audio DirectStream DAC a...
Six DAC Comparison System My digital front end is described below. The analog portion of my system (after the DAC) can be seen on my virtual system page. My sole music source is digital and results from streaming Tidal or Qobuz, or from accessing stored digital mu...
Quick question for the Cables Don't Make a Difference Crowd. @unreceivedogma I read your link. The court sure likes to poke and prod but your side got them across the finish line in the end. If you are DC, then your list of other cases is interesting too. It seems your day job is not so different from w...
Six DAC Comparison “didn't see the obvious thought” Please elaborate. I don’t hear anyone arguing the importance of the output section. Each DAC is the sum of its parts and design topology. You get the whole thing, which is why they sound different from each o...
Quick question for the Cables Don't Make a Difference Crowd. The cables don't make a difference crowd should not be allowed to post their misleading crap on Audiogon Absolutely, dissenting opinions are so inconvenient.
Digital Reclockers are they worth the extra Effort - IMO YES I simply wanted something that gave me a variety of output choices so I would not be slaved to the USB output of my Sonore Signature Rendu SE Optical. That the Singxer DDC doesn't do anything to diminish the sound quality makes it a win for me.
Six DAC Comparison Thanks @norust - I am simply going to post what I hear from the DACs listed in my system. I have been here about 25 years so will not be surprised regardless of the comments, but I also know some here will appreciate my observations. All six o...
Digital Reclockers are they worth the extra Effort - IMO YES I use the Singxer SU6 DDC, which is great for converting USB into a variety of different types of outputs. This is helpful in my current comparison of multiple DACs. Sonically, in my system, it either makes no difference or perhaps helps a littl...
Six DAC Comparison @porchlight1 - There is something to that based on the SMc Audio DAC which uses 1990's technology with a Crystal Semiconductor CS8412 "E" Version receiver and CS4328 DAC. The DAC-2 sounds very good in spite of the older digital technology. The ...
Six DAC Comparison I will occasionally post on my progress here starting with the purpose, which is to share my subjective observations based on my direct comparisons of the listed DACs. This is NOT a play-off or “best DAC” competition, and I will probably not sele...
Six DAC Comparison Hey Jim, glad you asked since I was going to list the pricing anyway, along with the chipset used in each, and provide a link to additional information. Three of them are R2R DACs, and one is a hybrid R2R topology. None of them use discrete resist...
