The Audio Science Review (ASR) approach to reviewing wines.
“My biggest problem are the members who can ONLY see the audio world through their own narrow vision.  Every time someone seeks advice, it's the same routine of "it doesn't matter," rather than having any REAL input/advice. What I DO value it ...
DAC recommendation for DSD input
@silverfoxvtx1800 - I really had no issue with the Tambaqui and I could certainly understand why so many enjoy it in their systems. I perceived it as being super clean but not bright or etched. It displayed good power and good extension in the hig...
DAC recommendation for DSD input
The Tambaqui holds some benefits for your situation. If you buy used, you can probably sell it quickly if it doesn’t work for you. Most of the used ones are in very good condition because of how light/small they are (i.e., easy to pack/unpack, pos...
Search for B&W Silver Signature 25/30 Speakers
I believe those were the brand/model of speakers John Atkinson with Stereophile used in his system for years.  They do come up for sale occasionally.  You could post a "wanted" ad.
The Audio Science Review (ASR) approach to reviewing wines.
+1 @2psyop  Not sure why these ASR sucks threads keep coming up when half of the posters say they don't read ASR anyway.  It's just information, and no more or less significant than written reviews without context or full of personal bias.  Do yo...
Confused about adapter for RCA to BNC
@stuartk - I am glad you got it to work.  Enjoy the DAC. I am surprised more equipment manufacturers do not use BNC connectors for digital cables.  To me, they seem to make a better connection than RCA.
Are upgraded power cables for subwoofers worth it?
Regarding wire gauge, the current limitations to your gear are: Breaker size at the panel (usually 15-20 amps) Wire size in the wall (should be right-sized for the breaker, so usually 14-12 awg) Power cord gauge to the equipment (no need to b...
Confused about adapter for RCA to BNC
@stuartk - The analog rca jacks in the X SE are "Furutech rhodium plated low-mass RCAs directly soldered to the PC board." The digital S/PDIF rca jack looks different so I am not sure whether that is a Furutech or not. However, I have never had an...
Crimping Furutech FP203R spades
You may be using too small of a die for the wire/connector that you are crimping. Check out this video that provides some guidance on selecting the die size as well as showing what a finished crimp should look like.  You may consider practicing o...
Are upgraded power cables for subwoofers worth it?
Whatever power cord you use, make sure the wire gauge is big enough for the current draw of the sub’s amplifier (12awg should be fine), the connectors make good contact and fit snugly in the duplex, and the cable is shielded to reduce noise (altho...
Six DAC Comparison
The Mystique Y sounds good in my system.  I am working on a write-up to post here but been a bit busy lately with regular life stuff.  I will try to finish and post something this weekend.  As a preview, no real surprises.  Benjamin has been a st...
Crimping Furutech FP203R spades
Hard without a picture but the result is hexagonal, the same shape as the dies.  There may occasionally be a bit of the spade material that squeezes into the edges where the two die pieces come together but I have never had a crimped spade come ap...
Confused about adapter for RCA to BNC
@retiredaudioguy - Damn huskies, ya never know what they are up to
Confused about adapter for RCA to BNC
@stuartk - I agree with @marco1 on both the adaptor and "your Craftman style home and listening area." Back in September in my 6 DAC thread, you commented on our styles being similar.  I do have a few pieces, some old some not so old, but your pl...
Reccomendations for CD transfer services/venders...?
I paid my daughter to rip mine one summer when she was out of school.  She alphabetized the CDs too, which are now all stored in large plastic cases that are easy for me to access.  Good luck finding someone to do your job.
