Spades vs. Banana plugs ??
Based on the discussion here, more seem to prefer banana connectors than spades.  I find that interesting in that banana connectors are almost always made from a much less conductive metal than copper due to the inherent lower stiffness of copper...
DAC options to consider for Innuos streamer
What is your price range?
Want to build a rack with sandwich layered dampening
Some interesting responses and certainly more than one way to skin the cat (no cats were harmed during the writing of this post). The gatorboard I recommended was a material used by some of us back in the day and patterned off of the foam used by...
Spades vs. Banana plugs ??
I have never had the loosening issue with spades that is being reported here, and I do check them from time to time.   @carlsbad2 - When I use banana connectors, my strong preference is for a minimalist BFA style banana plug - these first, and th...
DAC options to consider for Innuos streamer
Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC. Simply unbeatable. I understand why some would think so, and I would not argue that it should be on a "must hear" list, but this stuff is all about "the ear of the beholder."  I owned a Tambaqui and would describe the so...
DAC options to consider for Innuos streamer
I had decided to purchase the Pulsar but fell into a good opportunity on a Sonore Signature Rendu SE Optical. Those two, along with Auralic’s ARIES G2.2, were at the top of my streamer list. Like the Signature Rendu, the Pulsar only outputs USB. ...
Spades vs. Banana plugs ??
I like spades because I perceive better contact area from a properly positioned and compressed spade and because spades are more readily available in high conductivity materials like copper, which is generally considered too soft for the structura...

Take a look at Gator Board (i.e., gatorfoam, or foam board) for your sandwiched damping layer.  It comes in various sizes and thicknesses.
Leave it Open or Close it Off: A Listening/ Living Room Dilemma
If how it sounds is your only deciding factor, then buy a piece of plywood, cut to size, and A/B how it sounds with/without.  You could even take frequency and SPL readings for a given source, like one of Stereophile’s test CDs, if you are way ser...
Two Internet Feeds
You should be able to do exactly what you mention, except run the RJ45 cable out of a jack on your router without paying for an extra internet feed, which I doubt is necessary.  You would still gain the isolation provided by the optical module and...
Thanks to the Moderators
@roxy54 - I agree. You are what you tolerate. It is your site Audiogon, so nice work keeping it as a place where people want to be.
Review on Linear Tube Audio Aero DAC
Another possible reason why he didn’t compare the Merason DAC1 MkII directly with the Aero could be that they were not both in his barn at the same time. It seems Lavorgna likes the Liav Harmony DAC at its price point but he personally doesn’t ca...
Advice on Optical Ethernet Conversion
Yes, same result with either the switch or opticleModule, especially when feeding the Signature Rendu SE Optical.
Review on Linear Tube Audio Aero DAC
Twittering Machines’ review of the LTA Aero DAC is positive and discusses similar strengths as in the review by @teajay . Apparently Part 2 is yet to come. The review does not include any comparisons with the previously reviewed Mearson DAC1 MkII...
Advice on Optical Ethernet Conversion
SGC currently has sale pricing on the opticalModule. You can also simply use this switch near your router and output the 40 feet of fiber. I own both and currently only use the switch to run 45 ft. of fiber into my Signature Rendu SE Optical. I ...
