Newbie sub crawl
Reversing phase of main speakers will ruin imaging but with subs a phase change is roughly equivalent to physically moving the sub. So yes it can cause a change like you heard.
Legacy Aeris vs Tekton Ulfberht vs Triton Reference
I'd narrowed my search down to Ulfs. Was pretty much ready to order Ulfs. Called Terry since he had a pair, and had also reviewed Moabs. Immediately he said get the Moabs. Very nearly the same in every way just the Ulfs have a tiny bit better bass...
Newbie to the awesome audiophile world
Speakers with around 95dB sensitivity will be a big help, as much below 90 and you need a lot more watts. And don't spend half your budget on speakers. Or amp. More like 25%. You need source, amp, speakers, and wire. Four equally important compone...
I have only come here seeking knowledge...
The only thing that’s changed, I moved my audio equipment to the basement a couple of months ago Everything plugged into one outlet?
Best songs for speaker setup / positioning
Right, the two best are both by Stanley: Tape Measure, and Framing Square. When the speakers are precisely equidistant and symmetrical your imaging will be fantastic. Then experiment with toe to get your preferred balance of imaging, stage width,...
Cueing issue
That's what I thought lewm but he says its working. Just to make sure the test would be to raise and lower it with the arm in the arm rest. It should drop nice and smooth even without the arm. If it sticks at all then lewm nailed it.
Are cables really worth their high price because of their geometry?
Is all this geometry just another way to justify their cost or is it true science that we are paying in the end? Yes. Probably. Remind me again, why we are still paying any attention whatsoever to these marketing stories? Forty years and still th...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
But until we have the ability to prove otherwise, the fact is that your position that one can "hear the difference" is fundamentally where this position starts and ends. Right. Exactly. We can hear the difference. Period. Why you then go on and...
Newbie sub crawl
1. I turned off the mains so all I was hearing was the sub. It occurred to me later this might be a bad idea as obviously all will be playing during listening.Right. You want as many bass source locations as possible. They interact and add toge...
Very best sounding Vinyl
So in my role as the OP, I took the Better Records plunge and tried out A Night at the Opera, Super Hot Stamper A++ both sides. Original 1975 pressing. $150. All I can say is Wow! Dynamic, raw, clean. Freddie came alive in my living room. Loud...
Cueing issue
Oh well if its lead-in then its obvious. The program area of most records is almost perfectly flat but the lead-in area on some records is curved with a bit of a lip. So its possible depending on the angle and your anti-skate for the stylus to tou...
... abit confused: how does a power cord affect the presentation of sound...
CD Player is powered with a PS Audio Statement SC power cord, so I went in my closet and pulled out another PS AUDIO Statement SC power cord, hooked it up and expect to give it at least 5 days continuous re-break-in before serious listening. T...
DIY interconnect just arrived ~~navships~~, true High Fidelity
Seriously though. Mozartfan. Just in this one video it looks like you've got $350 into interconnects. Or at any rate you were willing to spend $300 on one. For that kind of money you could go on line right now, pick any random Synergistic Research...
DIY interconnect just arrived ~~navships~~, true High Fidelity
I watched the You Tube video.. I got to admit, the two different socks on the guy in the video, did catch my eye. But the two speakers up against the wall, 4-6 feet apart, and the painters tape on the PC really gave it away. Sounded better? OK...
Cueing issue
Seems unlikely, but sounds like what might happen if the stylus just happens to catch a speck of dust just right. After a few seconds, or if you lift, its gone. Have you been able to look real close while its doing this? Sounds like might be too b...
