Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a speaker you can turn right up and continue enjoying clean pristine treble? Is there even such a thing? There is. Unfortunately very hard to find. Fast as they build em, fanboys snap em up.
Fraud, what do you look for to spot a risk?
A real corporate history makes you feel saver? You mean like Washington Mutual? Enron?

pragmasi gets closer than most. There's at least four main types or categories of noise. First and most obvious is room noise. Fans, heaters, airplanes, all that stuff. This is the one out of all the noises you might actually be able to quantify w...
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
Springs bounce and resonate. Townshend controls this with an ingenious air resistance damper. Without knowing what IsoAcoustics is doing it is hard to say. Probably a solid mass under the Podiums will be best.  But you will just have to try both w...
Last Audition - Blown Away By A Lottery System
$20k will get you a Raven Nighthawk, Tekton Moabs, Decware ZP3 phono stage, a VPI with a good cartridge, and still have funds for Synergistic wire and Townshend Pods to make it sing. Year or so from now when you’ve got it thoroughly tweaked out an...
What is a good base for speakers
Actually they will sound better with springs. Townshend Podiums work best but you can DIY two ways. Easiest is Nobsound springs, they are adjustable for weight and cheap, only about $35. But they work. Slightly better but a lot more work is to bui...
Super new to record players
That would be a pretty fine table with that AT on it. Or Ortofon if you want a little warmer presentation.
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
In my home? Well the worst by far was JBL L7. This was back around '90 or '91. They didn't last long. Very hard on the ears. The day I sold them, after getting used to their replacement, the JBL were like an ice pick in my ears. Can't believe I ev...
Having trouble reducing the vibrations on my turntable setup
The problem is the Clearaudio uses spikes, which is not very good (read, any) isolation from the Delos butcher block. The solution is replace the spikes with three Townshend Pods. Your turntable at 24kg would use 3 Pods, 8kg per Pod, that would be...

Power? Sources? Turntable? Amps? Cables? Tweaks?  Vibration control? Any of these in particular? No. Not really. It's all of them, and more. Oh and, fixed it for you.
Thoughts? Have b&w 802 d3 and other items...
So a buying spree results in ... monster cables. Am I ready to retire?Retire? With monster cables I would say put out to pasture.
How Sound Works in Rooms (from YouTube)
Pretty basic stuff. The color pattern showing sound reinforcement/cancelation is a good illustration. Almost everyone notices this with lumpy bass. But it happens across the spectrum. That is what makes this Audio 101. In the more advanced classes...
Issue with ARC Ref 110 amp
After the second time, I noticed that one of the speaker cables’ spades was broken This I think is your problem. Tube amps do not like to be run into an open circuit. If your spade broke and this opened the circuit that could do serious damage to ...
What does Hi-Fi Even Mean anymore?
only those of them who attend a lot of live unamplified music have kept touch with the original aims of hi-fi.Good golly gosh. So I can't be hi-fi, because I haven't attended a live acoustic music event in years?Holy elitist, Batman! Where do the...
Audiophile Fuses: Helpful or "Snake Oil"?
williampowell, First, you will want to make a list. Put every single one of the posers, er I mean posters above on it. As time goes by and you notice every single thing they post is as useless as what they just did here you will understand why. Th...
